.mobi Just a few words on TRAFFIC and .MOBI

The performance of MOBI at TRAFFIC was great to outstanding.

- This is a brand new extension.
- It proved to be neck and neck with .NET/.ORG after 5 months.
- Few end-users at the auction.
- Casual speculators who might have bid were not willing to pay the proxy fee.

I'd give MOBI's performance a B+/A- yesterday.

If you had asked me to grade this on 9/26/06, I would have said A+.

It's as good as I would have ever hoped at this point.

The real judge and jury is 3-5 years away.

I agree that .mobi did well for being so new although I know many people here were expecting it to perform much better than it did. I think it brought a bit of reality back into the picture, which is a good thing.

I agree -- and I think that the only reason it was being called a poor performance by any .Mobi-ists here, and why many had expected (unrealistically) so much more, is that each auction was being held up to Flowers.mobi. Take that somewhat anomalous sale out of the picture and look at all other .mobi sales, and yesterday was, as Jeremy said, outstanding. :tu:

In fact, if you go over to the main discussion thread for the auction outside of this subforum, you'll see that most other domainers thought .mobi did pretty well. There were very few of the ".mobi failed" types of comments.

If you take .com out of the equation and compare the relatively few names presenting .mobi at the Auction, (5%)

Then .mobi did Extremely We'll compared to every other extension.

A Solid "A" in my book for this early in the game.

The high expectations for the top premium mobies were based on end-user involvement in the auction which apparently did not materialize due to the lack of targeted advertisement before the auction. In a room full of domainers looking to buy traffic domains at wholesale prices dot mobi did real good, there is still the hope that the successful bidders might flip those domains at end-user prices in the secondary market. IMO

like everyone I was thinking a .mobi domain would break throw the flowers.mobi sale price.

We were wrong. But analysing the .mobi auction , a 6 month extension, we can see .mobi price near .net or .org prices.

I was not in las vegas but I used proxy bid.
I was successful in winning Models.mobi for $7,500.
Unfortunately I lose casinos.mobi, my max bid was 51600$.I don't know who is the owner. High price for a plural IMO.

I think the best bargain is pizza.mobi. I didn't bid on it because I thank it will reach XXX.XXX$.
Believe me the new owner can be pleased. I'm sure it's one of the .mobi best name.
Pizza correspond to the .mobi spirit a generic and short term, a huge market: the pizza delivery and a work known in the all word .
When you order a pizza you use a phone and in the future when fixed phone will disapear, you will use cellphone.

Today, In france phone operators permit to use free calls with your cell when you are in your house. Communication go throw the telephone network and not the cellular network using a receptor in your house.

I think this auction let everyone come back on earth (I don't know if in english we can say that like in french). Me too
.mobi is a good market ok but not all domains won't go for the same price of sule's sportbooks.mobi.

Only final users will pay that price.

I've got 4 or 5 XX.XXX$ offers for domains I own but I'm waiting. all of these bids are final users.

I want to say to every topmodel wanting to see her photos on models.mobi : call me directly my cellphone is +33619XXXXX ...
perhaps dotmobi permit me to find a topmodel ?

very nice price and though you may encounter a few roadblocks during development (PM me, I'll elaborate), if you are persistent and work with aspiring models & b-c listers, you have a lot of potential with a name like that. Truly... congrats.... great domain.
