It takes only a few minutes to transfer domains from GoDaddy. (Not 5 days)

I'm not sure if you guys all know this method so I post it here.

I have transferred many domain names from Godaddy to other registrars in the past. Normally after the transfer authorization, it takes 5 days to have the domain name transferred.

I just found that there's an option to let me accept the transfer right away. It's under godaddy account - Domains - Pending Transfers. You can choose to accept or decline the transfer request. This method is also mentioned in the standard GD email which were ignored by me in the past. I initiated a transfer yesterday and accepted this request today. The transfer is completed now and the domain is available in the new registrar. There's no need to wait for 5 days.

Just FYI. Please ignore this post if you already knew it.

GoDaddy.com, Inc. received notification on 7/4/2010 that you have requested a transfer to another domain name registrar. If you want to proceed with this transfer, you may accept it immediately or do nothing. If you wish to cancel the transfer prior to the auto-complete date, you must do so before 08-Jul-10.

Dynadot is super fast transfer out. Never transfer out of GD.
I like the layout and the GD iPhone app is very nice!

Nice post though, I'm sure some will find it helpful. :)

I totally forgot about this trick so thanks for posting it. I had placed a transfer from Go Daddy to Moniker on the 30th & it still was pending. I logged in to do this & the transfer went through in about 10 minutes.

It is instant. But might take up 5 business days. I think that is main idea in here.

Namecheap has never been very quick for me to transfer out of. And lately, domains that I transfer out still show up in my control panel until I ask for them to be removed.

With namecheap it takes a day or two. They email you with a link and you can approve the transfer using it to speed up the process.

I just transferred a domain out of Tucows/OpenSRS, and I can confirm that they also send a link that allows you to speed up the transfer.
