Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

Getting back to names that start-ups may want to use, I grabbed two .io's today.

PREFERRED & ASCENDING

PREFERRED definition- Liked or wanted more than Anything Else

ASCENDING definition- Moving, going,or growing upward, Moving or progressing toward a higher level or degree

Man,

You are doing it wrong...

Really i hate to say that to people maybe i am one of the last who can say it to someone but think twice before you buy. At least just wait to get some $ from auctions, i know that you have some names in flippa right now. I have also a lot of names in .io right now 25 of them i dont say mines are better but it doesnt matter for me even all of them have 0 value i can handle it easily...

This is just an advice, good luck with your names. I would like to see all of them goes for xxxx$ :) sincerely.

Here's my take. You are right, I could sit back and wait for a sale(s). But in doing that, I miss out on some pretty good words. Anybody that is looking closely at these .io domains, will see, just how fast they are going. Registrations are out of control. I had a list of about 70 or 80, and checked 3 days later, and about 20 or 25 were gone. Another person here also posted how quickly the domains were registering. I have a good amount of .io's and if one of them is really good, that's all it takes. On one hand, you are 100% correct, maybe I should wait to turn a few of them over, then buy more, but on the other hand, waiting longer may cause me to miss this run on .io purchases.

Here's my take. You are right,
I was hoping you'd stop right there.

If I argued that .io was worth 1% of a .com, roughly or even 5% (which it's not). How much would that make ASCENDING worth based on the valuation of ascending.com ?

Now look at it in terms of keyword power:

... ascend is better, ascent is better....(no questions)
... ascension is better....ascendant is better (though some would debate me)

You are settling at this point in time for the FIFTH best version with that same root?
You'd be better off asking if Ascent.io was for sale - it's a blog over a year without update than just settling.

This is like turning down the next three BEAUTIFUL keywords:

and being told that BACON (like .IO) was HOT

END UP REGISTERING LEFT OVERS LIKE

Registrations are out of control. I had a list of about 70 or 80, and checked 3 days later, and about 20 or 25 were gone. Another person here also posted how quickly the domains were registering.
And the list was? Just because they were registered doesn't mean they were good.

@Keith suggested you try the aftermarket to pick up better names? He's done well with most niches? Why ignore him and rely on the registrations of unknowns?

He said he bought art.io (don't know how much) but think about how nice that name is relative to something like spreadsheet.io?

Note: I'm not picking on you for any reason other than I think it's worthwhile saving you some $. I wish you all the best... I hope you do get that lucky sale (with one of those three your .io friend said was worth it). I guess I should stop posting because I don't want you to dislike me (not the button on the post, I couldn't care less) but actual dislike.

Good luck :)

@defaultuser... I won't dislike you, and you are entitled to your opinion. But the people will ultimately determine the value of these domains is the buyer, and not you are I. If I list it and get no bids, perhaps it's not worth much or it's worth less than I was asking.

By the way, if the domains I have in .io are really worth 1% of what the .com is worth, I'll be really happy. I know some people use Estibot, and some think it's worthless, but using Estibot as a tool for our Discussion, just about Every domain I have in the .com version is worth well over $100,000(as per Estibot)some worth $200k to $400k. 1% of $100k= $1000,1% of $400K= $4000 etc

Again, the person that gave me some honest evaluations on mine, said i had a few, that by his estimations and his formula, that were worth $10,000-$30,000, and yes, he said I had some worth less than $100. This person has flipped multiple .io's for good $. If he wants to chime in,I'd love to hear from him

A challenge to the .io Nay-Sayers. I've heard a lot of people here shoot down my choices in .io
That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But the challenge to you, and I still have not had anybody respond when I asked before, if mine are bad, in your opinion, let's hear some good ones, and why they are good.

In the same post you said domains are only worth a buyer will pay and then you quoted estibot.

Please put down the kool-aid. It's like this has become a cult for you.

And again, let's hear your 'GOOD' .io Domain names, and why they are good....I'll wait as the Jeopardy music plays in the background.

By the way, just how many .io's have you bought & sold?

Full Disclosure: I bought that one. It was higher than I wanted - I was hoping it would be under $75 as it's only a couple of weeks old :)

The ones we own? Or just a list of good names? I can tell you the first 20 or so names I curiously looked up who owned if that's what you are interested in? Obviously most were taken a while back :)

First off, think READING.io is a good one, so you got a bargain, but that should make you cringe since I think it's good and I am terrible with these .io domains ;)

I don't care who owned the domains, I am just curious to hear opinions of some good ones.

it's fine too; what did you figure out? because this airforce auction has more bids and higher then my 3d / io auction which is mind blowing, so something is definitely up with this horrible auction.
