Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

First off, think READING.io is a good one, so you got a bargain, but that should make you cringe since I think it's good and I am terrible with these .io domains ;)

It's more for the geo than the present participle/gerund. It's pretty large urban area with a large tech base and it's where someone important to me does internet marketing so I think it will work for them :)

So ummm...I can post whois screenshots and stuff here without getting in trouble, right? What CAN'T I post?

You can post it all. If it ends up being wrong you will be corrected and we can carry on :) I'm curious...

So in addition to READING, as in books, you are thinking READING as in PA?

I just picked up BNP.io

Huge evaluation on Estibot $11000(which I know doesn't mean anything
Stands for many things, BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY, also asssociated with a Bank and Media outlet, and:
  1. Brain natriuretic peptide,BNP
  2. Brain natriuretic peptide, now known as B-type natriuretic peptide or Ventricular Natriuretic Peptide, is a 32-amino acid polypeptide secreted by the ventricles of the heart in response to excessive stretching of heart muscle cell
I think it's a plus if a 3 letter domain is an abbreviation of multiple things

To that thought, I got CNA.io

Certified National Accountant

Certified Nursing Assistant

Certification and Accreditation (C&A or CnA) is a process for implementing any formal process

Be careful in your assocations. It's akin to registering KKK or American Freedom Party as a positive investment... they may have moderated their message but they were still born from the National Front.

That's all I will say lest this get all politicky.

Well as a bonus for you, there is a city, Reading, PA here in the US
Not sure that adds a lot of value but if it's a bonus I won't turn it down... ;)

Some recent .io auctions on Flippa

READING $120, thought that was low myself
BEASTFEED $1, doesn't sound all that good to me
GTI $235
UTUBE $61 ??
INTRANET $2000 and it sounds like a good name to me
SCORPIO $162
SMS $7500, obviously, some 3 letter ones will be good and some won't, this looks like a great one
STUDENTLOANS $47 double word
ORIGINAL $236,seems like it could potentially go for more
DESSERT $350, that's strong for that name, IMO
STARSHIP $400 also pretty good
PILATES $224
INTERNETRAD $355
DESIGNERCLOTHES $105

AIRFORCE at $3000 and still going strong.

Prices all over the place

I see Intranet "brokered" by KCGroup and SMS sold by Mike.

I'd take half that list and say the transactions never even went through.

And all those low dollar ones ($250 and below)..after all the time writing up the listing, talking w/ buyers, waiting for payment, fees, transferring etc., there's hardly a return left.

If that's the .io sale's sampling, you'd be better to stay out lol.

it's fine too; what did you figure out? because this airforce auction has more bids and higher then my 3d / io auction which is mind blowing, so something is definitely up with this horrible auction.

@Jason.tv are you being sarcastic? Calling the auction for airforce.io "horrible" when a week ago you were defending it....? Now because it's higher than your listing for 3D.io...THERE'S JUST GOTTA BE SOMETHING!?!?!?

If you know how to use google + whois tools...it's not too hard to figure out who owns the name, and what super seller on there is bidding it up....I had looked a week ago. If they're not the same person (using a different alias), than they are likely buddies. There was some name that tied the 2 of them together to some extent...I can't remember.

But speaking of someone who clearly likes to bid up .io auctions......lol

This was before I realized there is shill bidding involved.

Beezy had posted it all but I hinted he might want to take it down. Couple of them are members at NP and without real proof I didn't want him damaging his reputation (though I believe his findings are valid - and match mine and yours :) )

Given the volume of $$ for the SS it is not simple to assume that the bids are shill IF you respect the effort that @FlippaDomains says it goes to to ensure that the reputation is "squeaky clean". I don't know how squeaky clean a user can be when one of their other accounts was suspended but what do I know? I would be curious if @FlippaDomains has looked into this and what their findings were and, more importantly, if there is an innocent party that is affected what they would do about it. I don't care unless someone gets hurt - if shill bidders just bid up their own names and end up defaulting or whatever..it doesn't matter too much .. though the venue ultimately suffers trust issues.

I don't understand how an auction with irregular value and with multiple banned bidders is allowed to continue but I don't run Flippa. I've only used the platform once and it was ok (for all I know I was upbid too but it stayed within my comfortable tolerance level). I don't actually trust the platform because of issues like this and the one with Whiskey.com. I don't want to turn this into a bash Flippa post because having joined I can see that they've done some effort to authenticate accounts (and it didn't work with temporary phone numbers for me so I ended up sharing my real phone which I hate). Perhaps it's not the wild west but due care should be taken.

Just stay smart, imho.

Wouldn't bidding on his own auction make it risky that his bid would be the last one, and he then does not wind up with a sale, and spent the $ for a premium auction just to waste it?

one of the better I've seen. I tried to get tech.io but they won't sell for less than $10k

Was technology .io available for reg, or aftermarket, backorder??

I just grabbed a couple that may be of interest to end users, companies.

INGENIUS .io both the .com & .net are established websites of two different companies

I know the spelling is supposed to be INGENIOUS but the fact two different companies chose to develop sites with that misspelled name is interesting.

ESTABLISHED .io while there has been discussions about start-ups using .io's, veteran or ESTABLISHED end users, businesses, or companies may have a desire to show that they are not new, or rookies, so maybe this title would be great for them

@morf13 I got to ask. Are you getting these domains for less then $10 each? I just dont see many of these selling for what others have sold for. Big gamble man

No they are more than that.

I am not saying they are going to sell for $5000 or $6000, but I hope eventually, somebody will think that single word domains like safes, skates, Asians, oriental, etc, will be worth something. Seems like almost every single word domain in most extensions is taken
