Here's my take. You are right,
I was hoping you'd stop right there.
If I argued that .io was worth 1% of a .com, roughly or even 5% (which it's not). How much would that make ASCENDING worth based on the valuation of ascending.com ?
Now look at it in terms of keyword power:
... ascend is better, ascent is better....(no questions)
... ascension is better....ascendant is better (though some would debate me)
You are settling at this point in time for the FIFTH best version with that same root?
You'd be better off asking if Ascent.io was for sale - it's a blog over a year without update than just settling.
This is like turning down the next three BEAUTIFUL keywords:
and being told that BACON (like .IO) was HOT
END UP REGISTERING LEFT OVERS LIKE
Registrations are out of control. I had a list of about 70 or 80, and checked 3 days later, and about 20 or 25 were gone. Another person here also posted how quickly the domains were registering.
And the list was? Just because they were registered doesn't mean they were good.
@Keith suggested you try the aftermarket to pick up better names? He's done well with most niches? Why ignore him and rely on the registrations of unknowns?
He said he bought art.io (don't know how much) but think about how nice that name is relative to something like spreadsheet.io?
Note: I'm not picking on you for any reason other than I think it's worthwhile saving you some $. I wish you all the best... I hope you do get that lucky sale (with one of those three your .io friend said was worth it). I guess I should stop posting because I don't want you to dislike me (not the button on the post, I couldn't care less) but actual dislike.
Good luck
