Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

Would you be embarrassed to offer an .io domain to possible end user?

Imagine that you own SBC.io and you found SBCexecitves.com. SBCreative.com, SBConsulitng.com, SBCtech.com, SBCtechnology.com, SuperBusinesCareer.com, SBCmakrketing.com, SBCagency.com, SBCsystem.net, SBConstruction.net, SBCvision.org etc... (these are just examples)

Would you offer them SBC.io with the same confidence as you would have in case of SBC.com? Or you would not offer it to them at all?

Or another example....would you offer Staffing dot io (sorry Mike  ) to some staffing agency?

Why I am asking? Because we, domainers, often don't realize that average Internet user don't know even for .info or .asia, and I am pretty sure that .io would be total enigma to them.

BTW, I have some .ios

You definitely need to pick your battles. You need to reach out to people who see the value and meaning in the name. I can't see a staffing agency that specialises in nursing and healthcare being interested in an .io name, but an agency that specialises in programming talent might be.

It can't hurt, the worst is, they ignore you, or turn you down. The other day, I was researching and found somebody that had the .com, ,net, and ,org all regged for the same name. That tells me, they might want to have it in as many extensions as possible.

I've sent off a couple emails regarding some of the .io's I have, and I mention in the email, that the .io registrations and sales are very hot now(which is not a lie). I let them make the call, worst case, they say no, or ignore you

Sorry, I'm dyslexic I guess, LOL still, almost $2000 with 14 days left is good

I have to agree, and the name was just regged a week ago

I agree that it cant hurt much to try, but you can waste your time and look silly. Following that logic you can offer .ac or .cr as well ;) Or .bz if you want an argument that it is treated as any other gTLD by Google.

I see there is some money in .io domains, but it makes no sense to me. I have some .io, and will take some more to try take advantage of this madness :)

Exactly! Some single dictionary words are doing good on there, and some are not. ANGEL sold for $1000.
QUARANTINE is selling or did sell, I forget how much.

I'm holding onto PROCESSORS & PHARMACIES. Hope PROCESSORS will be the big one, and I know that PHARMACIES in a .com must be worth a lot, but have no idea what it will fetch in .io, probably either $20 or $2000 ;)

I also have INKJET, is that one word or two?

I have ATTACHMENTS up for sale now

You really shouldn't be focusing so much on what .io names "appear" to be selling for on flippa. I'd venture to say, the more exotic the extension, the higher incidence of fraud....lol

just for thought, would an .ios extension ever be released? and if it did would you think it would devalue the .io extension?

actually just thought about after I posted; there are many other uses other than ios apps

If they can release .whoswho they can release a .ios. And no I think the valuation of .io will decrease by itself regardless of an .ios or not.

Totally agree with you. If we consider the reach of such extensions to the general internet users, it is just less than 20%, but this extension is not getting popular among the internet users, but among the owners of various internet startups. In terms of global reach among internet users, .tv seems to be doing well.

no it's not shill bidding, highest bidder is legit.. geez..

I've never bid myself on a Flippa auction, if the current bid is $2300 for example, could the next bidder come along and make a bid of $3400 for example, or does he/she need to bid in the next increment?

Also, if there are current bids, but they have not reached the BIN price, can somebody still step up and use the BIN price and end the auction?

The next bidder can bid any amount he wants, If the reserve has been met, his bid will become a proxy bid.

Yes, the BIN option can be used at any time even after bids have been recieved, but the seller can also remove or change the BIN

It's not even an unusual bidding pattern.. a lot of .io domains in a fairly non-commercial niche (unless you are on this list) are getting 15+ bids into the $2000+ range days before the end of bidding... on a week old name on a first time seller.....

I'm not questioning the auction integrity at all.
[Removed comment to maintain my usual rule of not commenting on ongoing auctions]

But Jason, is it the "S" next to the bidders name that makes it legit though ? Just curious. Also, the shill bidder is rarely the highest bidder

marines.io would be a better buy because they kick the airforce's ass.
topgun.io is available if you want a related domain

I couldn't stick to the LPIT...dangit

Ya, I don't get that auction... especially the "150+" watchers with 2 weeks to go, non premium auction, for that name.. maybe I'm missing something

I've got ATTACHMENTS .io on Flippa, and about the same amount of days left, and I only have 6 watchers. Of course, I didn't do a Premium auction, I am saving the premium auction expenses to list what i feel are my Biggest 3.

Ya, that makes a lot more sense. My io auction is a premium auction with 8 days left and 46 watchers. I'm pretty sure I'd rather have my name than the one in question.

Thanks for the Flippa rules.

A couple more questions,if anybody knows, if I pay the $350 for the premium listing auction, and the Sale price does not hit my Reserve, is the premium relisting Free? Or do I have to pay full price again?

Also, the logos, data, professional scheme for the premium auctions, is that all set up by Flippa? There's no question the Premium auctions stand out like a sore thumb, and they always have the most bids it seems.

Just curious, do you just have watchers, or bids too? And if you have bids, how long did it take to get some after you listed?

Of my watchers, 7 of those are also bidders (and I'm sure more will be as the auction nears it's end time)

My first bidder came pretty quick. Can't remember exactly, but, I think first day.

PS: I can't answer your questions from your other post as I haven't ever paid for the $349 premium listing, just the $249 and I haven't had to relist.

I am going all the way with the $349 premium. I want the Email & Twitter blasts to get some people's attention.
