I've returned to this thread today having done some reflection on the values of IoT domain names. I get quite a lot of interest each week in my domain iot dot info, which I've developed, but would consider selling for a reasonable price. When I say interest, I get 2 or 3 offers a week and I've had a bidder recently go to $3,000, but usually it is offers of $50, $75 or at most $500. Ironically, I think most people just bid blindly for the name, having not even looked at the live web page because if they did, I'm fairly sure they'd realise it has "some" value and that I'd be brainless to let it go for $50! The reality though, is that IoT prefix domain names don't seem to fetch significant market valuations. I've checked NameBio, and the following reflects the current top 10:

The top domain doesn't even use the IoT domain in the context of the Internet of Things, which this thread (and some of the very obscure names I've seen posted) relate to. I may sound like quite a cynic with this next comment, but the vast majority of people in this thread appear to be wasting a lot of money even on hand registrations of some very niche or generic IoT + keyword combinations. In reality, any vendor of products in those categories are going to be using brandables.
