I am going to stick my head above the parapet here :xf.smile: (again)

Roughly 12 months ago I shared my very first purchases and was told in no uncertain terms that they where nearly all crap. I took the advice on board (I hope) and now want to see if my registrations from December/January are an improvement from then.

I would really value your opinions, as it will help me going forwards and will help me assess if I have improved or if I am flogging a dead horse!

I am not re posting the crap from when I started (you can use the search function if needed) and I have excluded some as they are for development/business purposes.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and there are a couple that I now regret, one lesson I am still trying to implement is not to rush into registering a name, which is bloody hard as I am quite an impulsive person by nature

BlockchainRobot.co.uk - long term hold

The .com is a website and there is quite a bit info out there on the future of blockchain and swarm robotics: https://www.coindesk.com/blockchains-robot-swarms-smart

quadcopter.top

the .com / co.uk / de are websites and the org is under development. approx 60,000 monthly searches in U.S and .top has one of the highest number of new gTLD websites developed
https://domaintyper.com/top-websites

cloudprescribe.com

This was aimed at the E-Prescription market which is set for large growth over the next 4 - 5years. Lot's of articles of this area online. The name targets the cloud based delivery model.

datareplacement.com

Data and Application Solutions, the replacement of Corporate Software Solutions etc etc

vrfunction.com

robotgrade.com

Loads of articles on how robotics will help in education moving forwards and it is already started to happen in Singapore and may trials underway elsewhere:
https://www.ft.com/content/f3cbfada-668e-11e7-8526-7b38dcaef614

MLboost.com

Machine Learning + Boost (help or encourage (something) to increase or improve) possible brandable along the line of how ML can improve your business

TeleHealthLab.com

Telemedicine/Telehealth is the delivery of remote healthcare services using technology and I thought the keyword "lab" fitted in quite nicely

CannabisFrame.com

Frame is a gardening term: "There are two basic types of growing frames that will increase your crops yield, Cold Frames and Hot Frames"
https://blog.seedsman.com/how-to-use-frames-to-increase-your-cannabis-yield

AiAffect.com

Possible brand again: How can Ai make a difference to your business, thought it would a nice consultancy name

iohtsecurity.com
iohtdata.com
iohtsoftware.com

IOHT stands for "Internet of Health Things". This is part of the Telemedicine/Telehealth, IOT niche: Lot's of articles on IOHT data, security and software and I am holding these for a few years. Nice keywords & I think a company specialising in these areas could find them attractive.

quantumencryption.co.uk

Better known as Quantum Cryptography - but still a valid term - found a nice quote to sum it up "Cryptography is the science and Encryption is the technique"

Thought it was a very good name for a cyber security firm

electricity.bike

I know! Made a mistake on this one. Play on electric bike (yipes!)

ifa.today

Again a duffer!

proptech.agency

Proptech is Real Estate Technology. Thought it fitted quite nicely with the extension, again loads of articles about it...
https://www.propertyweek.com/data/power-of-proptech-2018-awareness-of-tech-shifting/5097670.article

cannapractice.com

Was a play on the business or premises of a doctor or lawyer or even a start up in the industry - when I looking into it a lot of lawyers are building out their cannabis teams, the health benefits of cannabis need no more explaining and there will be a lot of start ups in this area of the next few years....

Are they sh*t, if so why?
Are any decent? If so why?

Be honest, constructive, brutal (if needs be) and keep it on point please!

I am not looking for a debate just good honest feedback

I appreciate any and all replies and I will respond to any questions that you might have on why I decided on these names.

*This is not an appraisal request and I am not looking to showcase these names for sale on this site*

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
We can't really tell if there has been any improvement, since you haven't shared last years list. The proof in the pudding would be if you are making any sales. Failing that. These all look like crap, to me. I can't see anybody wanting to buy and use any of these domains. But that is only my gut feelings. If you disagree. You should justify your reasoning. Sorry to be the bringer of bad tidings in this new year. Maybe you should drop all and rethink your strategy for a second year. Maybe look in the aftermarket for some gems, rather than hand-regging your domains. Despite all the warnings, you can increase your quality from crap to moderate, for a reasonable price. even in GoDaddy Closeouts, provided you don't go overboard.

datareplacement might have some value however, in my opinion all the rest are junk.

@stub I'm a big boy and can take criticism, hell I have been in sales since I was 19 years old! I asked for peoples honest opinions, the more the better!

Can't find the original thread! Trust me they where worst than this lot.....

Had a few sales last year - nothing in the xxxx range, but low to mid xxx, also quite a few offers on other names via Undeveloped, Sedo and Godaddy on other names throughout the year.

You know what they say, if you have to explain the reasoning behind why you got them chances are they are not very good! But still I will edit the post and add a line or 2......give me a bi of time to do it

@MrAcidic - Well if you've made some sales, and these are the only domains you own, you probably about broke even on the year. At least until renewal comes around. Which is excellent. I think for every domain which didn't have any offers, you should probably not renew. At the very least. I don't see any real potential in any of these domains, and would probably drop them all. IMHO.

No I have lost money this year in this area (not a huge amount and nowhere near enough for it to cause me sleepless nights) I have 225 in all. I would say I am personally happy with just under half of that amount, so I have paid the price for my mistakes.....

My aim was to stop at 200 names I went slightly over, but I will not be registering anymore for quite a while the plan is now to let the initial shite drop and see what kind of responses I get on the rest and review how I have been researching names and just taking a step back and watch the market for a while and do a lot more reading. There are quite a few names I own that are for the long term and I am in no hurry to let them drop.

The reason for this post was to take my hand regs over the last 30 days and compare it to 12 months ago as it will help me look at how I am researching names

I have picked up names in Godaddy Expired Auction and Closeouts last year, largest purchase with tax was just over xxxx and a few names in the xxx range

Got distracted by some things so took a while to update the original post with why I registered them!!

Well it's good to hear, that it's only the sampling you shared which is crap. And you sold some of the domains which were better than the sample shared. But maybe it's just the festive period which brings out the worst of your hand-reg tendencies. :)

Could be all that Christmas booze :xf.confused:

I enjoy hand regging - just need to stop for a while and assess.......

I would suggest you to focus more on .com

Calculate your sales ratio of new tlds separately and plan accordingly. We never know which new tld would get extinct in the near future..!!

Most are of my names are .com and you right to an extent that is the most proven extension, but the preferred extension in the UK is co.uk and a few good tlds are worth the risk (just my opinion), unfortunately 2 of the 3 listed are not that good of an example!
