.biz Interested in your thoughts about recent .BIZ auction

So the recent dotBiz auction is coming to an end and frankly i thought it was poorly marketed, very poorly designed, and was a total flop.

Let me start off by saying I am not one of those extension nuts that own 400 premium .biz domains and therefore think .biz is the up and coming extension and the only way to move.. I own maybe 10 and only for development reasons, ex geo names and a few other keywords like Eighteen.biz and Wi-Fi.biz.

As far as marketing I saw next to nothing on the domain blogs, forums, article, newsletter etc that I read/view. I am not a HARDCORE domainer in the sense of being online 20 hours a day, i do however buy domains for future investments and spend alot of time DEVELOPING sites.. Anyways I would have figured that people like myself would have been prime candidates for advertising this auction too but no advertisement found its way to me...

Anyways I bought one for a development feeder URL from the auction. I was the ONLY bidder but the system automatically kept placing "SYSTEM" bids above mine until I got to the reserve which wasn't public until AFTER you passed it...

Anyways woudl love to hear if anyone else bought from this auction and how you thought it went... I personally woudl have gone about it an entirely different way but its their goose...

It may just be me, but I never heard anything about the .BIZ auction .... and, frankly, I've always considered the .BIZ - while short and kind of "catchy" - a bit too much of a slang abbreviation / unprofessional for those seriously looking to convey a professional BUSINESS presence online, IMHO. :red:

In regard to the 2-letter .biz auction, I agree with JamesDavid that it was very poorly marketed. I was quite disappointed in Neustar as I had applied to market and sell names in the auction but never heard back from them.

However, I knew the auction would do little to boost .biz because only domainers knew about it anyway, and not even many of them.

Never saw anything about it and obviously reflected in the results with many of those 3 letter on Carlton's post generally selling for more than the 2 letter .biz.

I was in some of these auctions.....and, bought one two-letter name (my personal initials).


I agree, the auction for these names was pretty under the radar....I was in the auction for PC.biz, too....but dropped out in the end...That's one that has real potential, imo.
