This has happened to me multiple times... :

An end user contacts me.. ask some questions like asking price, if domain is for sale, how to buy etc. I then reply, but after my reply the end user remains silent. I might wait for some time and send a follow up msg, but.. again, no reply from end user..

so, my question is: when someone contact you, and you answer, but end user doesn't answer back, what do you usually do? Will you send them a msg again? and if so, after how long, and what do you say?

Unfortunatley this sorta thing happens often, sometimes it's someone who wanted the domain and maybe expected to get it for a low price then when you give them the price they realize it's way more than they expected and don't bother replying..... sometimes its even another domainer on a "fishing" expedition. Sometimes it's also a tactic to see if you reply back to them with massively reduced price because you dont want to lose the deal...

When someone inquires about a domain you already have heir full attention, use sales strategy to close the deal and be patient.

If they went silent then they are either waiting you out or your sale is dead.

Use eMail tracking like Streak to determine whether they are reading the eMails or they are truly disengaged from the thought of owning your domain.

Do you mind posting your reply? I can take a look and maybe give you some recommendations. It would be helpful to other people interested in this topic.

@DomainVP

I tried different stuff. My last one was basically like this:

(inbound) "how much?"

"i dont know. Im still pondering it's value. You may send me an offer if you like"

NO REPLY

(about week later I think)
"Hey, I have done some research.. and... and.. I want XXXX"

(some weeks later)
still NO REPLY

I recently sold a 4 letter engineering domain to a small engineering company. After receiving a low offer from him, I spent some time educating him on how important this domain was for his company because it was an acronym for the four words in the name of the company.

Over a period of six months i followed up with him about the domain. He never responded. Finally after about 8 months or so he finally responded saying that he wanted to make the purchase and in a matter of a few days we had the sale finalized. It does not always happen this way but sometimes it pays to regularly folow-up with a potential client.

I've got this going on at the moment.
I get an enquiry for a blog-type domain name which isn't even parked. I reply that I haven't had a chance to look at the stats, but I'll host a simple landing page to see if it gets any traffic. I do this, and a few days later I send the guy a link to a copy of the stats, and I tell him I've listed the name for $950 which is overpriced, and suggest he makes an offer. The name is probably worth around $250 imho, but I say I've listed it with a high price to give him a chance to pick it up before anyone else. I haven't had a reply to that mail, so I'll relist it at $250 and leave it open for lower offers. I'll mail him to tell him what I've done, and I'll leave it at that to see what happens.

And did he snap it up?

Still no words from the end user?

nope.

I also sent a new msg very recently. I then said I was willing to consider a counteroffer. I also to some extent backed up my asking price with similar sales and other reasons.

Email track says the msg is opened, but still no answer.. but again, this last msg was sent very recently, so I it still might be up for consideration.

Its about 1 month since the first inquiry.
