Hi Peter,

I have quick question for you.. is the reverse auction feature limited to services or can it be applied to products as-well?

Assuming that it can be, can you please PM your best quote on the 5000 member package, unbranded..

P.S. I loved your response to that moron on Digital Point..:kickass:

Cheers

Hi Peter,

I have quick question for you.. is the reverse auction feature limited to services or can it be applied to products as-well?

Hi Matari,

Thanks for your interest in ILance.

In a Reverse Auction scenerio the person who posts the listing will be the one who awards the various bids placed by others. Reverse Auction works a tad different than in forward auctions, where the bidding increases each bid. A reverse auction would allow the person posting the listing to choose a "Budget" if need be (optional) where only bids submitted can be within that range but ultimately the goal is for that person posting a reverse auction to award a bid of his/her choice. What is more, ILance has positioned itself with tons of features such as custom listing questions, custom category questions, profile questions and so forth. You can honestly make it a new product so long as the "core" remains in tact such as utilzing the bidding process as it was designed:

Reverse Auctions: Bidders can place any bid amount they want (if there is no budget set), the person posting the listing can choose who he wants to award.

Product Auctions: Bidders place bids based on the next minimum bid amount. If you have increments setup in a category, ie: $1.00 it would work like starting bid is $1.00 and the next min bid to place would be $2.00. The bidding process in this environment goes up until a buy now purchase is made (optional again) or the auction has no time left.

Assuming that it can be, can you please PM your best quote on the 5000 member package, unbranded..

Act before Monday and I'll throw in Branding Removal free of charge. Email me directly peter at ilance dot com or via PM here when you're ready to move forward. No rush, please use the demo and determine if ILance is something that can work for you. If you have any questions, let me know.

BTW, ILance 3.1.9 will be available soon which finally puts the framework in a position to allow us to focus on releasing Stores for ILance which is not far away from being completed. If you would like to view what this looks like or how it works let me know and I'll do my best to give you material on everything you need to know.

All ILance products are built to earn revenue so the only thing stopping that revenue being made is for you to promote your marketplace. This is just the same as starting *any* web site .. you're not going to make ends meet if you don't advertise or promote your business.

P.S. I loved your response to that moron on Digital Point..:kickass:

Just a bunch of kids looking to promote their own agenda (near the end). What makes it even more comical is if you actually "TEST" the online live demo you'll see they have nothing better to do than pretend ILance doesn't work. If that was the case we wouldn't be still supporting, developing and working with ILance customers (since 2002) nor would we have the opportunity to promote and be proud of customers using ILance who have been featured on Prime Time News. Scam software that doesn't work cannot possibly dupe industry professionals IMO.

Team ILance consists of good honest people, we help our customers but sometimes cannot help those who have completely modified their templates or code and want to simply "upgrade" keeping all existing changes in tact. Not possible, so the more advanced users tend to do this by themselves and they are fine. Other not so savvy users will utilize the product as it was created and have no problems doing so.

For those who do spot issues in ILance software, we have an Official Bug Tracker to stomp out all bugs, provide reporters with FIND and REPLACE code to avoid delays and go great lengths to ensure the software is working as it's designed.

I look forward to you learning more about ILance.

Best Regards,
Peter

I'm proud to announce that ILance 3.1.9 is finally available!

Let me take a few moments and introduce to you ILance 3.1.9, our latest stable release efforts of the popular ILance Auction Software:

Recurring Billing via Authorize.Net ABR

Due to previous builds of ILance supporting Authorize.Net gateway so members can deposit funds to their account balances via Major Credit Card, we've recently gone a step further by introducing Authorize.Net's new ABR recurring billing solution into the ILance Software framework. When enabled, users can visit their subscription menu to upgrade their subscription with a new option: Recurring Billing via their Credit Card.

This move puts ILance in a new direction for recurring billing where only IPN based gateways were provided thus far. Today we announce the ability for users to pay their ongoing subscription fees and renewals through their major credit card without any further setup or maintenance on their behalf. What is more, users who use this type of gateway have the direct control to cancel their recurring billing through their Subscription Menu on your ILance marketplace. Previously, PayPal and other gateways which offer recurring billing requires your users to visit PayPal to cancel their memberships. Not anymore now that Authorize.Net ABR solution is fully integrated to ILance 3.1.9.

Direct Buyer to Seller Payments

One of the most requested features of ILance since it's inception would undoubtly be the ability for a buyer to simply pay the seller directly though the seller's payment gateway of choice. This is now possible in the latest version of ILance where the seller selects his Payment Gateway and enter's his verified email address for receiving payments through that gateway during the listing of his item.

Note: The payment gateways that appear to the seller is based on the payment gateway modules enabled and activated in your AdminCP > Payment Modules. If you had Paypal and Moneybookers enabled (and with direct payments option enabled) these gateways would appear in the screenshot you see below.

Dev Note: The seller is only allowed to select a single payment gateway. We may introduce checkboxes in the near future for allowing sellers to select multiple payment gateways but no planned development is currently set at this time.

Mass Payments

Mass Payments needs no introduction as we've all been to ILance Forum at some point to express the concern how users can pay for unpaid transactions quicker, more efficiently. Team ILance listened and produced the new Mass Payments in ILance. Users can still pay for single transactions through their account balance and outsite payment gateways such as Paypal but Mass Payments will require your users to funds their account balances to make payment on a mass-payment transaction.

Bulk Items Uploader

Bulk Items Uploader allow sellers to produce a valid comma separated value file (from any text-editor or spreadsheet software such as excel) to list all line items to be bulk uploaded to the marketplace. You control the maximum number of items a seller can upload through his/her .csv file and other settings allowing thousands of products to be uploaded in a matter of seconds. View our sample CSV file here.

A visible Bulk Items API overview page provides necessary information for sellers looking to utilize this feature on your marketplace.

The New App Store will offer buyers the ability to download free and commercial based products from Team ILance and other Third-Party Developers helping you get the best features your customers demand unlike any other competing product available today.

Hi Peter,

Can it also run as a standalone classifieds website? Or does is need to use an auction element?

Can you please PM your best quote on the unbranded 5 domain package? (it's around christmas ;)

KR,

Merien

Hi Merien,

We are currently in Beta stages for the Want Ads Classifieds product app for ILance. This app will offer a direct method of allowing members to post items they're looking for, including both services and products. For example: I'm looking for a roofer. Make an offer. Other members can make their offer on the classified/want ad listing as well.

As for products, users can make their offers (Ie: I have this, I will sell for $xyz). Additionally, because it's an integrated app for ILance, there is another option to let that same member enter in the existing auction # for an item which can be sold via:

1. Regular Forward Auction (bid increments included, proxy bidding supported)
2. Fixed Priced Only (and or/ Fixed Price + Auction)

This might be a popular item, and if you enable the ability for users to react on offers based on posting their item to your marketplace in auction format, you could potentially capture a final value fee and/or insertion fee for that item to obviously recoupe your investment as a site owner. It can also go to auction so multiple bidders can bid for that item.

If you're honestly looking for an app that is just classifieds, I'd personally advise you to review hotscripts.com for a surpurb classifieds ads system. However, if you're looking to scale now and in the future to auctions or fixed priced listings with Want Ads and other professional products I'd say ILance would be your number one choice :gl:

I'll send you a PM before tomorrow with everything you've requested. I look forward to working with you if ILance is something you're ready to move forward with.

Take care,
Peter

Hi Medialab,

I'm certain Erin will provide you everything you need to know now and in the future if you decide to move forward. She's really good like that.

The price of ILance software is in fact priced to sell believe it or not. Having something like ILance coded from scratch would cost you in excess of $50k :

- Gathering a trusted crew
- Software application testers
- Technical software bug reviewers and fixers during the initial period of development
- Marketing, advertising and promotion
- Web Designers
- Search Engine Optimizers (SEO development, content development, etc)

Once launched:
- Customer support for your own development
- On going development (new trends form, new ideas come to the table)
- Accounting and Financials (locally and integrated solutions like paypal, moneybookers, etc)
- Credit Card support and administration

Now, take ILance for example. Spending < $1k for a solution in a box where you grow as you need to seems like a much more professional investment. Think about it - do you really want to sit there for the next 6 to 12 months waiting for your marketplace to be built or do you want something NOW where you can get pro-active immediately, hire your programmers to change what you need vs. creating from scratch and go go go. Why wait? If this is your market you don't have time to wait.. correct me if I'm wrong here.

I do agree with you that whenever there is choice, there will be pros and cons no matter which ways it's looked at. Lately, we've been seeing a new trend at ILance where it's not so much the "start-ups" looking to venture in the Reverse Auction / Forward Auction markets, but already branded and established companies more so than anything. This makes perfect sense, as the goal of ILance's Forward Auction logic is to have companies and/or individuals liquidate their assets from arts and crafts to heavy equipment, to ipods, iphones, and everything else that can be sold online - quickly and efficiently.

In terms of you being concerned regarding "bugs" let me give you a hint: Take what people say about ILance as a grain of salt. Why? Because you can prove them wrong yourself, no strings attached. Here try it:

Go find someone saying rubbish about ILance. Find a bug someone is pointing out and go to the ILance online demo and try to reproduce the bug yourself. I do think this will be difficult because last time I checked people were not pointing out anything specific with their statements. You know? "ILance sucks" doesn't seem to tell me much about what problems are specific or "ILance doesn't work" doesn't exactly say which part out of the 300 various features and options isn't working :)

I'm not saying ILance is perfect but it's certainly not far off :) You see, our business (ILance) is a mixture of customer support as well as application development and testing. Chances are if you did spot a bug which was in fact a true bug, it wouldn't remain a bug for very long as we have methods in place to report bugs, reproduce bugs, fix bugs and release updated patches to our customer on a regular basis. ILance software is not a hobby, it's a business and we serve our customers like any other business. Do you think if we had some major bug our existing customers would return to purchase other add-ons, services or customization? I'd say no.

Security flaws are patched almost instantly as this could be the downfall of our customers marketplace so we take this extremely serious to ensure our product stands tall to hackers, developers, designers and the owners once the product leaves the building (so to speak). To date, we haven't had one single hacker successfully compromise an ILance site whether it's in the Front end or Back end of the admin panel. Our motto is trust no one (in terms software development of course).

I think for any business, starting out is always a huge feat. "Will it work", "Can we become successful", "Will people use it" and the answers to these questions are two fold:

1. Yes it will work based on your efforts to promote and market.
2. No it will not work based on you just buying a license to run a marketplace hoping to become successful.

I will also tell you is we've spent nearly a decade on refining the ILance software solution to handle almost anything in terms of auction from Reverse to Forward Auction processes.

What I think makes ILance stand out from the rest of the competition is the fact that we have everything in place from buying and selling items or services to the entire process of payment, delivery and everybody is aware of whats' going on during the entire processes because everything is simple in terms of the User Interface, big buttons, bold actions and there is very little room for error or mystery. What is more, ILance is the only solution provider currently offering both Reverse and Forward Auction processes in one solution.

Not many products available today offer this type entire process out of the box without spending hundreds if not thousands on customization or integration. ILance is all template driven meaning we don't mix php and html code together as the presentation layer is separated from the application layer making everything quick and easy to extend and scale the solution as you need to without the pre-condition of having programmers from Team ILance sitting there helping you. The code is professional, it's all documented and developers have no problem working with ILance. If you know PHP you'll know ILance. If you know your CSS and HTML you can make your ILance look anyway you want whether it's making it look like your "existing site" or some other idea you had in mind for your design overhaul.

Please review the ILance product and ask the questions you need to know before jumping in head first. If you are interesting in moving some of your ideas offline or in a more private manner let me know. We can do PM here on the NP forums or you can head over to ilance.com and send me a quick message to expect a reply. That choice is yours.

Best regards,
Peter
