Logo design for marketplace product - $150

Hi everyone,

ILance is looking for a new image for it's popular auction software. While our product does more than "forward bidding" we are not looking for a bid hammer. :) We're looking for a professional look and feel (great use of fonts), proper spacing and easily able to brand the logo into a favicon for web browsers. Some favorite logos are Linked In and eBay because linked in is easily identified via favicon and thumbnails while eBay is fun and exciting.

We've been on the hunt for a great designer for a while now so instead of searching we're trying something different:

We are offering $150 for the best designed logo for ILance. The winner may or may not be declared in this thread (depending on if we want to move foward with your design / talent).

Conditions:
- Please design your mockup on both, white and black background (if possible).
- Final version of the winning logo must be supplied in Vector Format.
- You can play with the "i" in ILance. Lowercase or uppercase, whichever you feel is appropriate.

Good luck everyone! :)

Thanks for your efforts. This is still not what we're looking for. I encourage you to retry and/or submit different mockups. We're looking for a cutting edge look and feel to make this a perfect outcome.

At the moment, the colors are not too great (sorry for the bad news). I also feel the font type used can be more professional looking (no offense to you both).

Thanks again, keep em coming :)

Thanks for your attempt. This is pretty plain jane if you ask me. Not that you knew any different (because we're not sure what we want) but we'll know when we see it (if that makes any sense). But I thank you for participating. If you want my honest opinion, this here looks like what I tried to do (and didn't like the outcome) just last week.

Thanks again guys - I didn't think we'd be seeing some efforts this quickly!

Keem em coming :)

PS - here is what the existing one looks like:

(but of course I'm here now because it's old and we want something more refreshing).

Jurrie,

Thanks again for your 2nd attempt. I feel the "I" is taking away from the actual word ilance and the lance font is a little to be desired yet.

Thanks so much. Not really sure this is the winner :)

Hi guys,

Think different when you're designing the logo mockup. Try to invision the logo as a brand you'd see in a magazine or a blog. Notice how LinkedIn in is able to take part of their logo Linked [in] and turn it into a brand that is familar (the IN part)? well we're looking to do the same thing.

We're looking for a tight brand image. If possible, please revise accordingly.

Thanks

iLove Your Sense of iHumor :)

Thanks for your attempt. At this time we're looking for something a little more "cut". In fact, it's really not the layout you provided, it's the font I think. You are more than welcome to retry your efforts if you like :)

Thanks so much for your time and energy.

Wow great designs. There is slight issue here however, one glance at the logo (first time) I noticed it's a little more cut and professional the the other entries (no offense anyone please) but it really looks like a Seige Engine shop (with the gears surrounding the "i"). The 2nd attempt makes me feel that the brand "Nike" is embeded in the logo (the swish effect) while the last attempt kinda looks like a light bulb. By no way am I putting these efforts down, they are great, just not for marketplace software I don't think :)

I encourgage you to retry if you have a little bit of time. Thanks!

Thanks for you kind words. Yes you're probably wondering how we ended up going with our current logo if we're sitting here now saying "no" to everything :) It's really not about the "no" or anybody wasting their time. It's about us finding the perfect logo mixed with a brand look and feel. We've spent a good 6 years on product development and we're finally ready to market this beast! the thing we need now is a brand image and presence to fill that gap.

I enjoyed your logos. In fact, I think it brings the best usage to a "brand" image we're kinda looking for. Your "i" is really creative -- it works (I think). If you could try again with some other fonts we could see how that turns up.

PS - by no means is anyone wasting time here. We're a picky bunch (yes) but we are allowed to be :) We've worked hard and now want something to showcase our product through the use of a perfect looking logo :)

If we need to increase our $150 to something more, I'm wondering if it will attract more professional designers. Because we haven't seeked out a logo design in the past from a "forum site" I'm really not sure what the going rate would be. If this is one of the problems I'm sure it can be resolved quickly.

If you're a designer, get your designs going! we'd love to see them!

Thanks everyone!

Okay so something tells me you've ate your wheeties today!!! Now it kinda blew me away but that's because I wasn't expecting that! :D Good job!

Very nice. I'm waiting for my partner to view this (she'll be in the office in another hour or so).

But it doesn't mean we'll go for it, it means if we're both in agreement that it's what we'll use for ILance, it may just be the winning number! :)

Thanks again. Now I ask that you don't stop. Take something like you've just done and make it even better (if that's even possible) :)

PS - we may update the original thread and move the logo winning price to $200. I think each week, if we do not see a logo of that will be used for ILance, that figure will increase +$50 each week until a price and designer hits our logo 100% perfect on the head :)

I mean we can't be that far off. If you're a designer and haven't had a chance to submit your entry try to be more "cut" and simplier. By simpiler I mean don't have too much going on but make the "design" and text fit together 100%.

Remember how easy Linked In looks. I'm sure they had thousands of submissions before they chose the winning one. Same for eBay. These designs are not done within a few days time. I encourage everyone to submit their design.

PS - We're happy go lucky people. $150 was the original set price but that will change EASILY if you design something that looks like it's worth $500 or $1000 even.

What is $1000 if the logo will be used to sell and promote this ILance product for years? $1000 in this case is nothing.

Please, get your designs in. Make them count. This is the real deal and your logo design will be seen by thousands (soon as we launch) easily. We're going to throw in a license of our popular ILance Marketplace Software to the winner as well ($497) offer free along with the winning logo price money.

Regards,
Peter
