Improved Live Currency Rates Manager

Improved Live Currency Rates Manager for Users

The live currency rates manager now provides currency rates based on a daily bases from a popular web feed provided by ECB (Euro Central Bank). A daily cronjob runs updating the database with new currency rates for that day. Users can quickly compare prices in different currencies from users selling internationally.

Note: This feed is not like Yahoo or Xe.com. These providers offer realtime currency rates but with a hefty fee. You can connect with these companies and pay $300+ per month to have access to their API or you can use a free version installed stock in ILance at no extra charge.

The example is based on today's rates. When surfing to Xe.com for a comparison it's off a tad, but not much:

ILance: 500 CAD = 390.13 USD
XE: 500 CAD = 387.19 USD
Yahoo: 500 CAD = 387.16 USD

+/- $2.94

The currency converter in ILance is only for visual representation anyways and a programmer can easily extend the ILance api to use another feed. It's easy peasy

Hi johntxy,

Yes there is. In fact, you would not be limited to Adbrite or Adsense, you could use any advertising component desired as all templates are 100% HTML which allows you to cut and paste your promotions in any template you feel necessary.

In terms of a "management" area for "Adbrite" or "Adsense" there is no "spot" in the Admin Control Panel to offer any "control" however as you will have 100% conrol in html templates.

If at some point you need to have PHP be used to perhaps rotate your adverts in ILance that's also possible. For example, ILance uses a template driven framework which html templates contain {tags}. We refer to these as "Template Variables". So it would be possible to create something like {adverts} in the index.html template and then have PHP output the desired javascript or HTML as you need like this:

$adverts = 'xxx';

index.html:

{adverts}
------------------

And your adverts show without issue. Easy peasy

If you would like more detailed instructions that's no problem. PM me and I'll take care of your requests (or at least advise on how to implement that feature).

One thing you'll enjoy when working with ILance (as a designer or developer) is the the fact that we do not embed PHP code within the HTML templates. We use a model-view-controller which uses a unique template framework (our own) and designers can design the CSS/HTML and the developers simply develop in PHP.

Furthermore, ILance has created a simple Advertising "Add-on" called "LanceAds". You can learn more about LanceAds here. This addon actually integrates itself into the Marketplace. If you review the demo you'll see the advertisement being displayed under the breadcrumb of the layout. These are displaying "LanceAds" adverts which the admin has enabled and the users have created their own campaigns.

An update is nearly complete for this add-on which will use the "Category" description keywords and other aspects of the meta tags and will spit out relevent ads based on region, keywords (tags) and descriptions. This product add-on is priced affordably, at $49. This would be a seperate fee not included in this promotional offer, but it's affordable to the point where if you need it... it's available as well

Listing Revision Tracker

Listing Revision Log Now Available

I would like to introduce a new feature that has been long awaited -- Revision Log.

A listing's revision log will now track any new or updated changes to the auction event listing. If an auction has been posted, and has no bids placed the owner of the auction may update various aspects about his/her listing. After a bid has been placed on the auction event, only limited fields when updating the auction is available.

This will make a big difference in terms of people changing their title's or listing description around and everything about the change will be tracked in the new Revision Log as shown below.

In the latest version of ILance, the new settings interface allows admins to sort and view configuration options that matter most. Additionally, extended help text gives more direction as to what the input is asking from the admin. There is no guesswork, you just click and go!

Bonus feature added for developers: The PHP icon displayed below lets the admin click it which copies the config variable into the clipboard. As a result, the admin or programmer can easily access that configuration setting in the source code of the PHP offering complete customization and control .. for example if you clicked on icon for "Company Name" it would copy $config['company_name'] into your clipboard without guesswork:

A new feature was recently implemented allowing any market niche to launch ILance. In the past, the "Place a Bid" interface offered only "Bid Amount" and other questions like "Delivery Date". With the new custom bid fields manager you can sit in the admin side and create custom fields which users must answer when placing a bid in that particular category.

In the latest version of ILance our customers requested the ability to let them define their own "Email Departments" because a marketplace can have many. One for support, another for Abuse and others like Sales, etc. In the latest version of ILance admin's can now create email departments and define which email templates that are sent out from that department.
