I want my domain back

Hi,

I registered a domain a few years back, and then I let it drop. And I regret this very much. This isn't a valueable domain to anyone except me and my pals so it's not an "attractive" domain. I was wondering if it's possible to get it back somehow. It has been parked since I dropped it and it was renewed recently in April and it will expire in February.

I believe that this domain was renewed by the registrar, or a bot somewhere who saw it on a droplist. I was wondering if it's common that dropped names get renewed by someone else and then parked. And if so, for how long will they usually be kept?

As I said it has no value and I cant imagine that they bring in any revenue on this one since it's a swedish term and it's not even a well known swedish term. Plus the extension is .org. So I cant understand why someone would like to keep this for so long.

What is the deal about these kind of "behaviour"?

The domain is gurkburk_org, I might aswell let you know wich it is so you can see that its not very valueable, and perhaps someone here at NamePros owns this one and wants to sell it to me cheap ;)

Thanks,

Mattias

do a whois check, get a contact, shoot them an email. They will want a marked up price for the domain regardless of its value because you asking for it GIVES it value.

You'll have to pay for it but you can get it back. What you will pay? I can't say. But I do know this... Domaineers are bloodthirsty in alot of cases and posting your domain will give someone the idea to try and snag it up and hold it for ransom. Ruthless slugs. LOL!

Anyway, just give it your best shot and you might find someone that it tired of paying the reg fees and let it go for practically nothing.

Best of luck,

GoPC

Well, the thing is that I dont want to pay very much above regfee for it so I was wondering if it will be deleted so I can register it again from any registrar.

But thanks for you tips.

Cheers.

Use marketleap.com and check how many backlinks the domain has, you might not find much value in it but if theres traffic heading to it then the traffic can be monetized. If the domain has been reregged for a year then your only hope is to contact the owner on whois, thousands of domains get picked up like this every year and you will probably have to pay a couple hundred $ to get it back. Some just stay permanently parked and you might not have any chance to get it back.

It seems to be on hold at eNom. I suggest you let them drop it, then pick it up again. If you choose to renew it in the period it's on hold... you have to pay a ton.

Same thing happened to me with a domain I had in college (10 years ago) and someone still has it parked. I highly doubt they are even making regfees back from parking.

Every year I check to see if they've let it drop. I'd recommend just keeping an eye on it and wait until they drop it, unless one day you feel like it's worth the higher price they will ask for it.

Someone PM'ed me and said that it is actually in pending delete, does this mean that it will delete on the expiry date or is it still a chance that the registrar is going to renew it?

I cant understand this, why would someone want a domain thats only costing them regfee's every year? I also doubt that someone makes money from this domain I am after since it's a swedish term, it is not .se(swedish country code), neither is it .nu wich is a popular TLD in Scandinavia. Its not even .com, it's .org wich is an even lesser extension than .net in this case.

Ok thanks. I'll have a look see. I still cant understand why someone would like these domains? Well I believe I'll have to keep my fingers crossed ;)
