It means don't renew if you can sell within the first year.

Sell it for the price you bought it for and do some research, remember, domaining isn't any type of get rich quick niche, a lot of people lose money the first year. Don't register the domain if you don't see yourself renewing it next year if it doesn't sell. Only reg .com, and for a beginner, focus on strong two-word domains that make sense and has a wide market that may be interested, like tech, or crypto.
