Hey people,

I have been out of the game for some time now and havent been keeping up to date on the state of the .US market.

I own a domain from a while ago now and am sitting on it.

Can anybody give me any good news on www.preorder.us ?

Did I do well waiting - is the market going up etc etc?

Hope somebody can give a quick lowdown for me.

Thanks alot.

Hey Rob!

I would definitely say you made a wise move by sitting on this gem of a name, but unfortunately I would say you are probably going to have to sit on it some more if you really want to cash in big. There have been a rising number of premium one word .us domain sales, mostly in the range of low-mid $xxxx. However a lot of people, including myself believe the market is still rising, and will reach a nice mark within 1-2 years. If you can hold onto it for another year or two I think you will make out very nicely, but if you need to sell now you will most likely be able to get a good price as well. Hope this helped!

Tom

If you notice my posts on this board, I may sound like a broken record. IMHO, .us is currently the fastest rising extension. Keep your money in .us for a bit. Like Jeter said, maybe in a year it won't be the fastest rising... but for now, my money goes into .us purchases.

In general, all the major extensions are increasing in value, so you won't lose money in any case... unless you count missed opportunities as losses.

Thanks alot for your input guys, and good to see it was positive too! I am holding onto the name as long as it takes and am avoiding any temptation to get quick cash now.

Perhaps I should seek an appraisal for it here, see what the overall opinion of it is.

I agree with Tom...It's a patience game at this point for those who are looking to sell thier nice dot US names....They are still rising imo....Dot US is getting good advertisments on US tv's ....It's just a matter of time for the extension to be an everyday typin for US users...Much like .co.uk did imo

Well I am on the outskirts of the industry now and am quite happy to wait years if it takes it. I am hoping there will be a little (or big) pot of gold at the end of it though. I do like my domain alot.

I agree, the real market for .US will heat up over the next two years as search goes more geo defined (local) and the 50% of local small business want on the web. That said, I just sold 2 nice US names for mid $x,xxx each and NDAs again. Ask Santa for a clue.

Weird, and I just had someone who was actually looking for a mortgage / remortgage name for an end user tell me 5k was too much for remortgage.us :)

There's a small group of names I believe in strongly enough that even if I stopped domaining tomorrow I'd renew for 10 years and forget about. Remortgage.us is one of them, so their loss.

remortgage.us is very nice.

I am keen on one word .US names. I guess I will add another couple of years to it and see what happens!

I certainley hope the .us market is rising/going to rise even more. I think that when US cusomters begin to use the .us TLD like those folks in other countries. The name will be huge.

The fact that a great deal if not all strong or good keywords without having to market .coms are all taken up. Is leading people to new extensions. Such as .info,.ca,.biz,.net,.org,.us,etc.. So from that prespective, .us isn't doing too bad :)

Having torrentsearch.us selling doesn't mean anything for .us because it is a torrent/warez name. Which always go high.

Well this all sounds very encouraging, guess I'll be keeping PersonalFinances.us after all.
