.us Disappointed in .us interest

Is it just me or is there a complete lack of interest in the .us market right now? I've been looking to sell a number of names for quite a while now, and I can't seem to gain ANY interest even at low ball price levels.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I think the only commercial application of those you listed is TV, secondly I believe TV means the same in any language where the others would not mean the same universally.

That would be a great point if you had said "again there is no denying TV is the mst popular two letter commercial word/symbol in the world. Not my opinion/not your opinion FACT"

That FACT, well, isn't.

I'm not in the TV forum telling people how great .US domains are, how about you give us the same courtesy?

I did not mention TV being great Derek, and I did not bash .us as I own and like .us I felt that the comparing .tv to .cc/.ws was wrong. I came to the thread to see what others thought about the decline in interest as I have felt that way and have a few .us expiring debating whether to renew certain domains

You will not find one thread on this forum where I have said .tv was great or told anyone to reg a .tv

TV is a famous 2 letter word around the world but you cant say that people around the world dont know what the US is either, lol. They might not like the US but they certainly know it. Both are probably equally as famous.

...........I felt that the comparing .tv to .cc/.ws was wrong.
The comparison is completely valid within the premise it's made in ; i.e. ccTLDs that are being promoted for use other than what they were meant for...i.e. TLDs for that specific country. Is there any disagreement with the notion that in this regard .TV is no different than .CC and .WS?

I'm starting to lose faith in .us to be honest. I guess I just don't have the right names in my case, but the best I've been able to do is $125 with a .us name compared to much higher success in other extensions.

I've sat on many of them for years now and have had no interest.

It's a sleeping giant that may never wake, definitely speculative.

This is a good time to refine your portfolio by getting rid of the low quality domains that are a burden on your budget and by adding some quality domains that are a good match for .US , then you will be in better position to wait for the better times. IMO

I am a believer but the TLD is warming up at a slower pace than we would like.
My horizon is 5 years so I am prepared to wait :)
At least with the premium keywords I don't think you can go wrong.

I agree that the recent marketing of .tv and .mobi have taken a lot of the attention the last few months. Long term, I would rather have .us than either of the other two.

I also think a lot of .us are selling for less than $1000 and staying under the radar of DN Journal and other places they are reported. I spent almost $2000 this week purchasing .us on tdnam, and only got about 10% of what I bid on.

If anyone is thinking about letting good .us drop, I may be interested in buying at wholesale prices to help you cut your losses.

The future of DN investment is cctlds including .US but look at the sheer numbers for .IN !!
Hold tight - this is a medium term ( 2-5 year ) investment.

I hold a few hundred .us': I have never paid more than $5.99 each.
I have sold about 6 or so .US', with the highest sale being $350- including a hyphenated .US for $250.
Most of my .US' have been bought with the intention of development-chasing high-value keywords.
I do expect it will take a few more years, but the .US TLD will one day rival .net for traffic and numbers IMHO. My day-job is with an international organization, so I have observed the first hand use of country domains in business and personal domains- this will continue to influence the North American web user.

The list of sales above on this thread is very intersting- jeez louise...don't give it away and the price WILL rise. I think we might have gone through the first wave...the first owners were happy making $40 on the transaction. Let's hope now that the second set of owners have a longer view! I have pruned as I have purchased better names, but I intend to hold the majority of my .US stock for at least 5 years.

One last thing: for those of you who do travel names speculation or development, I think that since the rest of the world uses country code TLDs, travel-destination names are especially attractive, i.e Florida, California, Carribean, etc.
