It's been a while since I have been active on this board/sub forum and was just wondering how the trend on .us names have been doing. I've checked dnjournal but all of them seem to be a bit older so has the market decided just slowed down or come to a halt? Any info is better than no info. Thanks, Adam.

.US domains.US domains
We are all hoping that its just a slight bump in the road... especially for the LLL.us. I am recommending them a strong buy at this point. I don't think the low rates will stay around much longer and by fall we'll see XXX wholesales and the lowest LLL.us will be going for 100+. In terms of dicitionary premium words, you can still get very much for the domain but other words have fallen off the train.

I only see developed plays on the .us, premium names, or names you could develop with massive following as worth it at this point.

But fonz did say a bit ago that many of the top domainers are getting into the .US market so that does say something about where the domain is headed.

Once the .US gets a decent registrar that genuinely cares about the .US name space, this market will sky rocket.
Americans are very patriotic, just look at those silly ribbon bumper stickers and how they proliferated overnight. Nothing spells patriotic like the .US.
The .US extension should be an American thing to do. After 9-11 every US business should have been flying the .US in their business name.
Sadly Neustar did not do a proper job of managing the .US and in my opinion, the .US name space has suffered, because of it

yes, america is full of that stuff. you never see people in any other country sticking silly little flags everywhere and getting school children to recite indoctrinational chants.

this marketing line should be pushed strongly imo

I don't know... you don't see as many LLL.us names for sale as of late. Seems people are becoming more keen on keeping their LLL.us.

I shop for domains from the perspective of someone who likes to register, host, and have a few paragraphs of content published within an hour; with plans to build out later.

From that perspective I find it very hard to do anything with three character domains. I like keyword domains but the .com is normally taken. Assuming they are available, I am currently struggling with the choice of .net, .org, .us. From the standpoint of the search engines I don't think there is any difference; all can rank equally well. I don't expect any of them to get any typein traffic.

At this point it comes down to my guess about future popularity, so I find these threads interesting for the very different perspective. I assume an eventual sale to a retail buyer is the goal for most, but that seems to get forgotten sometimes. :)

Todays market for .US is a bit low. There are less demand and more supply at this point. Not many are paying much attention with the .US. There are many gems you can pick up for reg. fee so I'm taking advantage of this.

They aren't keeping them because they are going up in value. They are keeping them because the market is very soft and don't want to loose money IMO

Like others have mentioned, the market is only soft for non-premium names, which is to be expected given the current situation. I continue to get unsolicited offers from end users every single day for my premium LLL.US names, and I can honestly say that the unsolicited offers have trended up, and continue to do so, over the past 2 years.

I agree. However, people don't lose money unless they actually sell. Usually you see people listing these types of names for above market price hoping to catch an eager buyer. I wonder why we're not seeing these types of ads anymore?

I don't know the answer at this point. I'm just wondering aloud.

I agree, but this will slowly change as the LLL.us recovers from the bubble bust.

Funny I was just thinking of starting a thread about this.

I've seen a big increase in traffic for my .us domains in the past few months. Many of them are getting >100 type-ins per month now, and most of them a 2-word names.

Also, I just sold freerolls (.us) for $250 and FreeRoll.us is on SEDO auction right now, at $200 - go bid :)

I'be bought a few LLL.us names recently and I'm confident that the market is gathering strength. I feel it is the best alternative to .com right now, you can get an affordable premium name for your business in the .us tld, whereas .coms are beyond the reach of many small businesses.

Again, most importantly, type-ins are increasing. This is a sure sign that the domains are gaining value.
