September 1999 ... and I'm sure the sale of "Business.com" ($7,500,000) or one of those "high-profile" domain names probably had something to do with it. :guilty:
Of course, those days are long since past for the majority of domains, but there is a very vibrant and knowlege-sharing based secondary market for domains, and having a site such as Namepros thrive at this level reaffirms, at least to me, that it's a viable and productive industry. If you think about it, most major industries/businesses have a "wholesale" level ... where profits can, in fact, be made. Matching and taking domains straight to the proper End users is both exciting, and potentially very rewarding ... I am constantly on the search for these "leads" for some, not all, of my domain names. One day I hope to develop some sites and share these experiences, as well.
Happy domaining, everyone. :)

Nooooo .... I meant (and thought I said) the actual sale of "Business.com" (and some of the other ones back in the heyday) probably piqued my interest and initially got me interested in domain names, back in 1999.
I WISH I had sold "Business.com" ... my God, man. :D
WaaaaHoooo.

I wanted to start a new web/graphic design company, and found a few names I liked. Along the way I found more good names, and then a few more. A few has turned into almost 300 in less than 40 days! Aghh! I have started to slow down on my purchasing as my wallet can't take it anymore :)

getting started

i like that approach :)

the logic of getting sites up and operating at at least breakeven allows for more cashflow to buy until sales are made

now i just have to figure out a good , cheap hosting option

Where are you finding domain names for $3??

I really, truly, don't remember how I got into domains. In fact, it's hard to remember how I got involved with web design. :tu:

I think I did a project for a client, and he offered 3 domain registrations and $100 as well. My first sale was just over $300 but it was a start. :talk:

:hearts:

BTW: Welcome Brendax! Just have some fun and make some money! :gl:

Cool stories.... I can relate to the "Garbage" domains one..lol

I started about 4 mths ago. Bought some domains I liked, and developed them a little, with the intention to use them as a business. Then I found some cooler ones and then NamePros.

I spent about $200 on a steep learning curve on what is good, bad, and downright pointless. I still own a few of those wonderful pointless names ;)

But then, it's also just for fun. Why else would I have reged : www.NPgeezer.com :) lolol
