Join a forum like this one, and buy some domains that sound cool. Then sell them for more if you can. Get a reseller account when you have a keen eye for new regs.

Started 4 years ago on eBay. Sold a few than got frustrated and took a break (actually, gave my wallet a break). Just got back into it about 3 months ago and luckily found NamePros. Now, if I could only get the ball going again with my first NP sale!

Interested in hearing more "stories". Thanks for the thread Daz.

I sell leather jackets and Sterling Silver jewelry online. After paying money over and over year after year for online advertising, I stumbled across an auction for a domain name with traffic. I bought the name and pointed the traffic to my wholesale web site. When I saw the traffic come through, I wondered where this guy was getting these names from; because he had many other auctions going on for other domain names. I started researching and found out there was a whole industry involved in the buying and selling of domain names, I was hooked!

I joined a bunch of forums and after time found out where and how to look for good domain names. But most importantly I saw something that other domainers kept stepping right over, and now I dig there. I think it's a great opportunity to make some nice cash, I know I'm doing OK with domain names for the work I put into it. I just accepted a nice deal this weekend, going to be my biggest yet, 3.5K. And that's for a name I found that had been sitting there all day unregistered.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!!

Any chance of letting us know what that 3.5k name was?
Just curious.

I'll let that out of the bag when the check comes in, I think I'll even scan a copy of it to increase the drooling sensation. I will make a post in a few days when the transaction is completed, but it looks like a very solid deal.

I registered a bunch of crappy domains with the plans of developing them and decided they weren't worth developing. I found another forum and saw a request, posted, sold the name for $100, and to this day I'm still registering crappy names.

lol I make money buying and selling the garbage., I try like hell not to sell names on forums though, I could never make money selling to resellers., I only sell to endusers., Nothing less than 200.00, In the meantime I develop them into cookie cutter forums/ ppc sites whatever I can make a profit on., They way I look at it is, if I buy a bunch of garbage names for say 2-3 bucks each, and I can get that name with a garbage site and some seo to make 25-50 bucks a year., Then I am happy., It is just some nice side income for me, I know it sounds bad, but I will also use multiple pop ups/unders anything to make the name bring in revenue., Ill build the site, then move on to the next one., checking on them maybe once a month or less., That is the system I use, everyone has thier own ways. :)
