Hey all, I was wondering--for you who have sold domains, how long after you got started before you made your first sale?:$:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
I think my first sale occurred in about 3 weeks, here on the forum; however it was only a $50 sale.

It was about a month for me. Sold for a couple of hundred...

My first sale was 2 months after my first domain purchase(hand reg) for $1,200 to an enduser.

I still have PLENTY to learn to make consistent sales but I love the challenge.

According to my records my first sale was for $32 where I made $20. A .net. It's difficult to say how long I it took. Maybe 6 months.

Thanks for sharing everyone. Wow, most of you actually sold your first domain pretty quickly.

If you haven't already, mind elaborating on how you got your customer? Did your buyer contact you after seeing your listing (on Sedo, NameCheap, GoDaddy, etc.)? Or was it through an auction on one of those sites? Perhaps it was a private transaction made with a fellow forum member?

My first sale was for $1000 to an end-user. It was a hand reg name that I sold 1 week after regging it.

It was a nice sale, but the $1000 just made up for what I spent originally on all my initial hand reg names. LOL

It not easy making money when you first start. It takes alot of trial and error.

I hear that. Smartest thing to do is read and learn first.

Then start looking for domains on the aftermarket that you can flip for good profit.

It was a $150 sale via Sedo (Sedo fee was $15 - yeah there were a good times :) and regged it for around $15) - so the profit was $120. The sale came in 4 month

It could come faster but I did literally nothing during this 4 month.

In May 2008 I created an acc. here (before that I regged couple awful domains and parked them at Sedo). I was for about 2 weeks at forum and than went away thinking that domaining is not for me.

In September I got an offer via Sedo, sold the name and came back to Namepros.

I sold my fist domain before I started thinking about domaining. I got $250 and then thought there might me something in this for me. I'm about the cross the four figure mark and I started this month. I have a strong background in SEO though and already had a network of people who trust me for potential buyers.

Pretty nice topic, reminds me of my old days! ( Though there ain't much difference anyway! :D )

I bought a domain related to the PTC industry for a super duper GoDaddy coupon code. In an hour, I sold it for 10x the price ( $1.xx something ). Pure profit of $9+ :D

My largest sale is of $65 only, I'm still on the learning curve.
