A lower ranking, I have found on anything connected to the Internet is usually a good thing. With Alexa in particular a lower ranking usually relates to steady traffic visiting a particular website. The question then become where is the traffic coming from?
If it's paid traffic, that does not mean you have a great website, what it means is people have been paid to click through to the page. And in 99.9% of the cases have no interest at all in the product. making the Alexa rating questionable.
If on the other had, you have great organic traffic, because you have a winner in the domain name, the result becomes two-fold, one you lower your Alexa rating, but second and most important, your making money because of the value in the service or product you offer that people are looking for.
Hope this helped.
