I recently acquired an old domain name (12+ years old).

I am going to put it as an addon on the same host i am currently using.

I am going to put content on it and add a link to my main website(7 years old).

What are some of the things i should and i should not do when using this domain.

Regards,
Thakkar

Just because a domain is old does not mean it is a valuable domain - before spending time or money doing anything to it, I would have it assessed by an experienced domainer first.

I think it's a great idea. However, it is even more important to build that new/old site- put some important information on it, and build links to it, so it has some value.

Only if it has decent backlinks. Otherwise it's just a piece of junk like any other domains.

The age of a domain is misunderstood/overstressed by a lot of domainers.

an old domain might have a slight advantage over a new domain, but only very slightly.

12 is now not considered old, unlimited number of year 2000 domains expire daily

Old domains rocks when it comes to search engine rankings

I have seen many websites with old domain registration date are ranking on the top for the search queries as Google gives an extra weight to those domain. Its a worth to buy old domains.

An old domain sure has it's advantages as is does disadvantages.

Before buying any OLD domain names make sure to G search it using brackets.

You don't want to register any domain that has had problems in the past.

Search before register, that's my rule..
