I did a search on the keyword tool for a term and noticed that one set of keywords that it displayed, that had global monthly searches of 450,000, and local monthly searches (UK) of 90,500, was still available as both a .com and a .net address.

How reliable is the info that the keyword tool displays? I imagine quite reliable as being a service provided by Google?

I'm tempted just to register the .com, put a two page site up with some good content and SEO and see what traffic it gets.

I think it's fairly reliable.

Not perfect, mind you, but its a pretty good indicator of traffic for the term. You can also do a separate search for keyword.com as well (which could give you an idea of exact match with TLD).

Is this term an exact match [exact match] or broad, no []? If it's broad match, then you need to expand your search to include this. The [exact match] can be a lot fewer numbers than broad match.

With those kind of [exact match] stats, I would definitely register the .com. Just be sure that there's no TM's involved.

Thanks for that.

It's an exact match rather than a broad match which really surprised me when I saw the monthly search totals.

I made a mistake on this one. Whilst I don't think it will be trademarked the keywords are the name of a number one spot laptop reviews site. So it's a no go.

Well, you are a good boy not a bad boy for letting a TM domain go by not regging :tu:

With that kind of exacts, unless it is a TM domain, it would probably be in the safe custody of a domainer who has either tatooted the expiry dates on themselves or who serenades sweet nothing to their domains....:lala:
