How do you get your domain names??

Hey all, Ive been around these boards for awhile but am just really starting in the domain name section.

Ive been trying to snag some expiring domains, Ive got a couple half decent ones but nothing worth talking about.

Just wondering how everyone else gets there domains??? you use pool.com?? other catchers?? backorder??? or wait for it to drop and try to snag it manually???

Also I use a site called droppatrol.com, now I caught one name it said had 30000 uniques a month, I havent gotten more than 1000 yet?? Why is this???

but for domains with a little traffic, or, if you register domains you think sound good, how do you get traffic to them if all your going to do is park them???

correct. if you don't do anything, a domain currently with some traffic will see
the decrease of the traffic if you just park it.

So you need to develop it if you want to increase the traffic.

Develop it into an actual site? or develop it into a minisite to earn adsense/affiliate earnings???

Mini-sites are the way forward. To find domains with traffic, use overture to check for terms being searched around a subject. If you are looking for traffic, type-in traffic will usually not decrease like traffic coming from a site that has been taken down (expired). To find this you could try tdnam's expiring auctions, but always check the domain before you bid, by seeing what it used to be in archive.org, and seeing how many aged links there are etc.
Most good traffic names are highly sought after, so don't be surprised if you have to spend money to get one.
