Being familiar with many facets of the Jewish world, the dropping domain Jew / Magazine () com caught my eye and I decided to backorder it. While the word "Jew" is typically used in a derogatory context, I was familiar with a specific magazine known for rebranding traditionally derogatory words used to describe Jews in a newer, more positive, more "hip" light. I offered this end-user the domain for $1500, citing BuyDomains.com listings of higher-priced domains starting with "Jew-" to justify why my price was very fair from a retail perspective. The end-user countered with $1000, I responded with "$1400, final offer", and they accepted. We closed the deal the next day.
I believe this is one of best ways to achieve one's first few end-user sales: stay within your comfort zone; pick a niche you're intimately familiar with and search the drops for domains containing keywords used ubiquitously within that niche. If you're a software developer, for example, look for keywords containing "programming", "engineer", or "tech". Then, pick the top 1-2% best domains from among that list of soon-to-drop keyword domains you assemble, focusing especially on ones you already know would be of interest to multiple specific end-users. Catch these domains on the drop and try to flip.
There are also new tools available now specifically built to help domainers achieve their first few end-user sales. These tools highlight domains that are much less speculative than traditional tools like FreshDrop do.
