How did you get familiar with domaining for first time ?

I started registering names in 1999, just for fun. Everytime I got an idea for a website, I would register a name. It was a lot easier to find good unregistered names back then. Soon I realized that I didn't have the time/expertise to develop/sell the domains and I let them expire. I didn't touch domains again until 2006. These days I develop some, sell some and keep some for long term ideas. I am certainly not a professional domainer.

Absolutely randomly...
1st domain I registered for my personal blog...
And while googling some related questions regarding its development - I found a domain forum (not NP)...
