AR and MR are two different tech's.
The first company announcement that their future lies with mixed reality was only done 2 week ago.
Of course mixed reality is way behind because it is the future trend not current one.
Facebook, Google, Magic Leap, Samsung and even Apple all have a mixed reality strategy.
Reporters are not mistaking AR for mixed reality. They just don't know what is coming.
The one's who are getting it confused don't understand the difference between the tech's.
Don't get me wrong for mobile smartphones AR holds lots of promise. But Mixed Reality will be so much more advanced.
Mixed Reality is not going to be here for five years. But companies know a tech that combines elements of VR & AR and makes lots of extra stuff happen is where the future is heading.

A talk is happening tomorrow morning about the advantages of branding with mixed reality. Some pretty big companies are attending the presentation so a few more mixed reality seeds will be planted lol.
Namepros will not be a decider if Mixed Reality will make it or not. That is down to some pretty big companies. Microsoft are on board, let's see who else joins them.
Longterm I cannot see companies not seeing the potential in offering a service that blends realities.
VR is cool
AR will be cool
MR will be cool
Branding as a company that offer all three elements is a no Brainerd to me.
Behind the scenes the tech industry see either MR or XR being this term. With Microsoft's push, I can see MR getting first chance in the overall spectrum department.
Neither AR or VR is being touted as potentially replacing the smartphone/computer/tv (not saying I personally agree with this)
But mixed reality offers a lot of promise, don't get all the hate but hey each to their own.
I have looked back through the AR thread and seen some comments from pretty respected board members saying that people were wasting money. Tim Cooke mentions the word AR and those same members are now liking the post lol.
But all I have to say is I have personally seen inside evidence that some companies that people think are AR, are actually changing their terminology to mixed reality (watch this space, and I am not referring to Apple).
