Traffic isn't a requirement to make a sale, but it makes a big difference in value most of the time. You can relate traffic to location if you were talking about realestate. The old saying is that to start a successful store the three things you need are location, location and location. If you have a storefront in a mall you'll get customers every day no matter what your selling. If you're in a separate building behind the mall people will only come if they want what you're selling. Its easier for potential buyers to see the value in your domain storefront if its in the mall. Its still sale-able, its just going to be alot harder to sell.
