Tdnam's traffic figures...

I realise tdnam's traffic figures are basically just a guess etc, and I have also read the godaddy disclaimer, but surely they realise these figures affect the sales price of a name...

I placed a bid on what appeared to be a generic .com name in a niche I have a vested interest in. The Bid was in the high $xxx region but it was not what I expected to be a winning bid, as there were already other bids on the name, and tdnam was showing monthly traffic of 2.5k visitors...

Now, after doing a good deal of research n the name, I could not see an obvious traffic source, and seeing as the name is generic and related to a seasonal sport (cricket), I assumed that the traffic must be type-in and obviously just no overture back in january when ovt last worked...

Anyway, for whatever reason, I have the name and it looks like I will be lucky if it gets 30 visitors this month, and there has been several major tournaments and test matches. To me, this is unacceptable, if the name only received 1k visitors I'd be a bit miffed, but I'd swallow the loss.

effectively the innaccuracy of tdnam traffic data has cost me $750 for a (near) worthless domain.

You have been warned. :(

Yeah, I agree that I usually get a little less than stated, but 2,500 compared to 30 is beyond a joke... its an outright load of bull.

I should also mention that when I bought this name last month (around the 28th/29th) I had a paypal limit in my godaddy account in place which prevented me being able to pay for the name... Godaddy couldn't tell me how to lift the limit, neither could paypal, so I requested from tdnam that they allow me a couple of extra days to pay so that I could use paypal this month. I got a stock email response saying I had 24 hours to pay or my account facilities would be removed. I should also mention I spend thousands of dollars with godaddy/tdnam...

I'm just a little peeved at the way they do business.

i bought for $700 a domain that had 10.000+ uniques per month
It seemed that the domain was a website before hacked an the hacker put there warez so everybody came n just to download.
I bought it, parked it and found out thousand uniques but not a single click.
I usually double check tdanm but this slipped.
