I won the auction for Walletopia.com, 0 seconds left, there was a message You won the auction. There were no other bidders in the auction and 30 seconds after I won the auction i closed the window, there was no more activity there.
I started to browse how to pay for the domain and received email You have been outbid by another bidder,
and lost the domain, because the auction was ended when I checked it again. Is this some kind of lag?
But why is this message You won the auction, if I'm not the real winner? >:(>:(>:(
Is this some kind of bug?

    :rage::rage::rage:

There was 1 bidder that took my domain, and the auction was closed. Now I see that therea are 4 bidders.. and the auction is closed.
They appeared 5 minutes ago in the statistics.

0 seconds left and I saw You won the auction text
I was very happy, because there were no other bidders visible.
Now I see.. 4 bidders at all and someone got the domain for $48.
    I'm very angry....

I did not win above auction. Same like you. I got winning message and I log out.
Second day I saw mail that I was outbid!

It's not normal to see a message You won the auction... , because when you see it you leave the page.
I was there for 30-60 seconds after the end of aucton, but nothing happened... the statistics with all 4 bidders appeared 15 minutes after the end. I was the only bidder all the time...
This is some kind of bug... :xf.cry::xf.cry::xf.cry:

I placed my bid 5:30 min, before the end. That was my only bid, and after 0 seconds left... there was a message You won the auction
    I'm very angry!

Yes. It is a timestamp bug. Happens if you stay in Asian countries.

Did you use the app? If so then it would be a lag issue with a last second bid.

Time is relative.... if I say now it means now regardless of what time zone I am in.

Auction closes it should close in all time zones at the same second.

I mean common, it's not like we're living in the nineties or something :meh:

This has been a big problem lately. Happened to me twice in the last month. Godaddy will blame your connection speed.

FYI, I’m in the States, not Asia or Europe. Their platform is to blame but they won’t fix it and could care less.

In my country the internet is one of the fastest in Europe. My connection speed was perfect.

If they didn’t send you a confirmation email then you lost. It’s unfortunate but that’s their system.

Now I see these statistics... they appeared 15 minutes after the end.

My bid is 10:58 /5:30 minutes before the end/. But there are no 'seconds' in the statistics, only minutes.

better way wait for 10 to 20 minutes after getting Win message on GoDaddy platform.
Check your mail - If got winning mail then its fine .. if not then you get outbid mail. Bid again if you really want name. :xf.smile:

I wonder, if someone could finally take a case like this to the court, claiming "You won the auction" is the auction winning confirmation so that GD must grant the domain to them.

if you play last seconds bid you better prepare to do much more higher proxy bid, adding minimum $5 to your bid wouldnt help at all. If you add much more as proxy bid, it will prevent your competitor outbid your bid, no guarante... because if your competitor doing the same thing as i explained then the one who win is still the most highest bid

That happened to me recently for high $xxx auction. I got "Your bid won" message and kept the auction page open for 10 extra minutes.

I saw no activity going on after I "won" the auction, yet soon I received GoDaddy email saying I was still the winner but at higher bid - luckily I put proxy bid high enough. That said, from my perspective, after getting "you won" message, the auction kept working in "background" for few more minutes.

I was told that it could be related to connection issue. If so, it is very good idea to refresh an auction page several times after getting "you won" message. Simply keeping the auction page open won't help, it must be refreshed to avoid connection issue.

Grilled found the line of code where this "you've won.." message is stored. It should be altered, and would not be difficult to implement, to read something like:

" You've won the auction. Congratulations! ** pending real-time confirmation of auction end ** "

or something, at the very least. This way, the bidders are AWARE, and shows the company is too.

I am discouraged that you people are accepting this as a "timestamp bug". Although it is a bug, the fact that everyone keeps using the auction system regardless of knowing your "win" could very well not be a win, tells GoDaddy that you guys don't care.

The only way to change something is demand it. In this case, STOP using GoDaddy auctions until it gets fixed!! This has to be done en masse. Are we all so desperate for second-hand domains that we will continue to use a buggy system regardless of the outcome? GoDaddy is a massive and well-established company, this type of bug should never, ever occur.

I made a commitment months ago to stop using GD auctions until this gets fixed.

Where on earth can we be told that we've won, and then, that we have not?? You have got to be kidding me, this is a joke. Implementing user work arounds like refreshing screens is so unprofessional and novice- why continue to use a broken system??

We cannot have auctioneers informing people they have won, when they have not. Full stop, END OF STORY.

So easy guys. Just stop using it until it gets fixed. I don't care what your excuse is. Time-stamp bug, refreshing, server-side, user-side code, app, blah blah blah. Otherwise, you're part of the problem, not the solution.

Who's in control here guys, you're very own limited time and hard-earned money, or some corporate behemoth who obviously doesn't give a $hit? Oh maybe they will, now. But it shouldn't take a roar. A mere whisper of a problem should be enough to garner a fix, when it comes to OUR money and time.

I haven't faced this issue yet. I've won about 10 domains or so at GD auctions. I know that I did not win many others as someone kept outbidding me. but whenever I won, I got email within 3-5 minutes most of the time and that confirmed my winning bid.
