"GEO" DOT TV and NBC/ABC/FOX/CBS etc...
*YOU DELETED THE WRONG ONE!...thank goodness I had this saved!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the first time I've ever asked for anyones opinion on NP publicly, but I am really curious to hear a few peoples read on City/State and City/Country ".TV" domain names.
Some recent City/State ".com" sales:
BoiseIdaho.com (owner owns BoiseIdaho.TV) $175,000
BajaCalifornia.com $95,000
AthensGeorgia.com $11,010
MiamiFlorida.TV (won't sell lower than $15,000)
AustinTexas.TV (won't sell lower than $15,000)
HoustonTexas.TV (not for sale) also owns DallasTexas.TV
BoiseIdaho.TV (will never be sold)
...so what do we make of this? Where do we see this headed?
There are dozens of "citystate.com" domains with NDA's and plenty reportedly were $xx,xxx and $xxx, xxx. If you search, it's interesting to see some "City.com" actually own their respected CityState.com. You could argue a million different ways of the *true value, but the reality is with E V E R Y O N E on earth talking "local, local, local" (including Google, AOL, and now Yahoo, and now Marchex). Obviously this increases the Generic "City.com" domains, (again), but with the shift in media/technology and development...where does this leave the future demand for these "City.TV" domains? Well...they say proof is "proof", so let's look at these again and leave your "2 cents" about the future "demand" of these very rare and valuable pieces of virtual property. Before you comment though, you have to understand the basics. THESE are "turn-key" businesses in the proper hands...and once sold, will likely NEVER be available again.
In my opinion, Gannett, ABC/NBC/FOX/CBS/ etc...are just dropping the ball, AGAIN. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD these major media companies acquire one or two for the world to see when they could have purchased them ALL (cities and states) under the radar and DOMINATED the "next generation" of media. They have by *default just raised the bar 10,000% percent to any owners of generic cities, and states, and maybe even citystates with the ".TV" tld.
We know of some serious interest aimed at .TV from these media powerhouses, but I just can not comprehend why they displayed the "ULTIMATE BRAIN FREEZE" when exposing themselves with their "cherry picked domains" in the smaller markets.
Without name dropping, I know personally (3 GEO .TV owners who have a running-relationship trying to iron out the details of a co-partnership or sale of these City .TV domains.) Believe it or not, facts are facts.
So, When Miami.com and Cincinnati.com and Jacksonville.com are talking about making $20...$30...and even $50 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR from their .com domain, what is a cool $250,000 to protect their brand? ...Well, it's nothing, and time will prove that this is exactly what is going to happen.
If Gannett/ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX (or even Rupert Murdoch for that matter) was smart they would swoop through and in one clean "007" style spending spree BUY every single Generic city, state and maybe even city/state domain with .TV...and it plain and simply makes SO much sense, it makes ZERO sense that it has not already happened.
Nonetheless, NBC/ABC is still interested in my City.TV domain name...and the fact is, they are NOT INTERESTED in ANY way, shape or form in the;
.net
.org
.info
.us
.biz
.name
.ws, etc, etc, etc...
...the naysayers are evaporating and rightfully so, but the bottom line is, if you aren't one step ahead you are at least two steps behind!
$100,000 wouldn't buy you Jacksonville.TV today, tomorrow or next month, period. Take note.
Macon.TV (abc)
Nebraska.TV (abc)
HamptonRoads.TV (landmark)
InRich.TV
Boston.TV
Tulsa.TV
Montreal.TV
