Hello namepros

I wanted to share with the namepros community one of my recent sales.

Domain Sold: FreeSubscription (.) com
Price: $6500

I purchased this domain in auction on sedo.com with a winning bid of $109. My maximum bid price for the auction was $1,006, but there were only two other bidders and very little interest from them.

Prior to me purchasing the domain name it had sold in auction on namejet (2009-05-19) for $3,600.

I am a domain flipper and a super seller on flippa, It has been my go to marketplace to flip domains for about 3 years now. I have had some really great flips imo through flippa, most of which I have shared with you all in the report completed domain sales thread.

So, knowing this domain would do great in auction I listed it at no reserve, I purchased the $249 upgrade for a premium listing. I only stood to lose $358 in total assuming the domain received no bids or the bid was just $1. This was a risk I was willing to accept. I ran the auction for 30 days to get the most exposure I could. With just 5 days left the bidding had reached $1500, which I was pleased with if it had sold at that figure. The final 3 days of the auction showed a lot of action. In the last 24 hours the domain went up $2500 in price. In the final 2 hours of the auction I decided to post a buy it now price of $12,000 bidding was at $4500 at this point. With less than 10 minutes remaining I received an offer of $6000 via private message, I declined and said id sell for $6500, they agreed and I lowered the buy it now price.

I wanted to share this sale with you all and share my selling process I use on flippa. If any of you would like to ask questions about flippa please message me.

I strongly believe there are still great deals out there for domainers if you dig through the poor quality domains for the diamonds.

Some of my other sales through flippa in May

Furm.com - $3,200 (purchased privately for $900)
Adoj.com - $1,000 (Purchased here on namepros for $400)

Few of my other big flips on Flippa
BoxOffice.net - $8,100 (purchased for $655)
Airline.net - $7,500 (purchased for $900)
TopTwenty.com - $4,500 (purchased for $1500)
PC.guru - $2,995 (Purchased for reg fee)
iReplay.com - $1,850 (purchased for $505)

Judge you are the Flippa king man...that domain was truly a great find...I think I will need to start scouting Sedo listings more often for now on haha

If I remember correctly, you also made a pretty penny selling a BB portfolio on Flippa. Well above what they were going for on NP at the time.

Seems like they should cut you some breaks on premium listings in exchange for your positive PR. Stories / sellers like you keep Flippa relevant to us domainers considering an auction house.

Maybe I should "stalk" you on Flippa (just kidding about that part)

Congrats and keep up the great work (research)!!

Opportunities are everywhere but you just have to pick the right day and not hesitate to make that decision (of making that bid). Even looking at the right platform helps a lot.

Congrats @JudgeMind and wish you many more sales in the future!

Congrats man excellent flip. I cant help but think though that once youre in with the editors at flippa youve got it made. It seems that every auction listing made by a few sellers on there (yourself included), is sellected for editors choice even if they are not that great a name. This not only creates an air of suspicion but can be seen as irresposible by Flippa as new domain investors will bid for a name or bid it up purely on the basis that it is editors choice. Its easy to make good sales when every listing becomes editors choice. I may be way off the mark here but Flippa comes across as an "old boys club" these days. Thats just how its looks to me.

Actually I do not get ed choice choice for every listing.. in fact I usually only get selected for ed choice 1 out of every 3-5 auctions. Most of my names I auction there are really great quality. I believe they may give some extra attention to their supersellers when it comes to ed choice. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I agree you sell good names and you make way more money than I do so Im in no position to say anything really but it always seems strange to me that the EC is dominated by a few sellers and half of the names are quite poor with better names that are not selected. Shows its clearly down to who you know and not what you own at flippa. Anyway im not putting a downer of your thread sorry. Its a great name and a great flip so congrats man.

Congrats on this sale! GREAT ROI.

Did you pay for any other type of advertising to promote this auction?

Congrats on your sale. I believe you are the new guy they are trying to use to lure people back to Flippa after the last saga that sunk them so deep. Flippa is joke for playing on people's intelligence all in the name of doing business.

It is how I see it...

So basically, as far as I understood from this post, if you don't buy exposure on flippa, chances are you do not sell. Right ?

Congrats :)

With over 1.8 million open listings on flippa the only way to get exposure is to buy upgrades to put your domain in from of potential buyers

I tried my luck with only 1 domain in the past on flippa with a standard auction, no exposure, no upgrades.
The domain was bid.tips and it ended for $20. Don't know if it was because of the TLD or because of the upgrade packages. :)
