Hi Guys, it makes me quite sad to see the breakdown of the .mobi forum. I have only been here a short while and i feel i have got to know most of you quite well by reading your replies and passion wheather it be good or bad.
I know it cant be easy for administrators wearing two hats.
I truely believe you have to have to hear both sides of a discusion and thats what debating is all about. Just look at the house of commons in the uk, i gets very heated indeed.
Np forum has become a good part of my life and i dont want to loose it. I may never meet you guys but i will sure miss you all.

Well said. I'm not the most optimistic .mobi investor around -- I'm more than willing to agree on the flaws of .mobi and things that may crush it. As a mobi investor/skeptic, I like to hear both sides of the story. On the other hand, some of the stuff which is being said to people because "they fall on the other side of the fence", is way, way out of line.
It goes both ways... Don't want the skeptics posting every single flaw that ever comes up? Then don't post every single "noteworthy" point that ever comes up. There were some days that I'd come here and there would be 20 new threads, at least 3/4 of which were about a whole bunch of companies that just got their .mobi (and I'm not talking about big ones like BOFA here).
I like .mobi and all, but let's be realistic here, there are a whole lot more than just 1 or 2 people that are causing the problems here... At least 10-20% of the .mobi members go around saying .mobi will supersede .com... That's looking for trouble... Plain and simple, it's about as unsubstantiated as me saying that I WILL win the lotto tomorrow. Sure, it could happen... I could also get struck by lightning, hit by a car crossing the street, be murdered,... All more common occurences than winning the lotto btw.
If I go to the .tv subforum in example, people are very optimistic about .tv, as .mobi members are... But will I find plenty of .tv optimists chanting that .tv will supersede .com? Yes, I'll find some, but those posts seem to get deleted (and should!).
I'll explain my background... I'm an investor, first and foremost. Domaining is just an investment vehicle for me, one of many. Why do I invest in .mobi? Well along with high risks is the possibility of high rewards. I would never recommend anyone put all their eggs in a .mobi basket... EVER! It's just too risky at this point and to say otherwise (but Fortune 500 companies chose .mobi,... is irrelevant) is foolish.
Let's keep it real. .mobi is a tld and like other tld's, has the opportunity to be a good investment for many people. We don't know how it will turn out in the end, so why debate that? Comparing it to .com is a joke. .com is proven, .mobi is not. Compare .mobi to .mobi... .mobi seems like it's doing alright for an extension of it's age... That could make for a healthy discussion. .mobi has more regs than .com did at it's age is looking for trouble... .mobi's backers are finally starting to back leads to a great discussion... .mobi has more backers than .com did in it's first 10 years leads to flaming about the RFP and other problems .mobi has.
I really don't see how we can't keep this neutral. It shouldn't be up to a moderator to babysit every single thread made here. If we all did our part to be realistic about what we post and honest with ourselves about what's currently going on in the domain market, I think we'd all have alot less problems here. We shouldn't need a PRO-MOBI forum and an ANTI-MOBI forum... Sadly, it seems that's what it's come to. And sad it is...
