Hello , I was listing a domain on sedo and accidentally I forget to remove it from my sedo domains listing after I sold it on another platform, after one week someone on sedo was requesting to purchase this domain , so sedo request me to transfer the domain , I told them that I'm no longer the owner of the domain and I apologize about this fault .
but they ask me to pay a commission or they will take legal actions against me and it may end that I will pay more

the question is they can really take legal actions against me ? what is the maximum actions that they can do ?

I dont always forget to remove any domains from listing after selling it , but I forget and I dont really think that I have to pay for somethig like this

How much is the commission $60? Think about it nobody can afford to take legal action for that little amount of money. They could close your account but I'll let someone with more experience answer

I don't mind if they closed my account as I don't sell there a lot , but I think they are trying to threatened me until I pay and I dont like their way

Hi Amir,

Do you have an update on your situation ?

Unfortunately I am on the similar boat with you.

Very keen to see if there's a resolution available.

Thank you.

Sorry about that. I hope it works out.

I think this is a lesson though whenever you make a sale MAKE SURE you remove it from all platforms you've listed them on. One way you could avoid this is by having "make offer" listing on all your domains but some people don't like that strategy.

Have an excel sheet or something so you can look too see what platforms you listed the domain name on and remove them accordingly.

Good luck.

Hii , actually until now , I didn't solve the situation ,they blocked my account until I pay ,so I asked them to close the account , but they reply that they will not even close the account until I pay , also they will send the problem to the collection team and I may pay more according to them , but anyway I will not pay the commission because I dont think it's fair to pay for something like this

Afternic auto removes all domains that you don't own anymore.

Sedo remove domains too, if they detect they have dropped. In this case the domain sold on another platform so they couldn't notice.

Yes they can. Every domain that I sold, afternic removes it.

Part of their email

Domain names are removed for one of several reasons:
  • The domain name has expired or been lockedโ€จ
  • The registration information has changed
  • There's been a change in registration (ownership)
On SEDO I also had similar situation. Luckily buyer didn't clicked BIN, just made an offer. From there I canceled deal and removed domain.

All bark and no bite, this must happen all the time, I can't imagine this does Sedo's reputation any good. I'd ignore it.

Not a solution to your current problem, but in the future consider only listing your domain name with a buy it now option on one platform so you'll never run into this problem.

Why is it not fair, since you are the one that made a mistake? They will have an admin cost in dealing with this manually, as well as dealing with an unhappy buyer, which comes at a cost.
I think you should not be asking if or how you can get away with it, but how you can resolve this with them to see if you can find a compromise, since this was your mistake, not theirs.
No offense intended, but I think this is simply the right thing to do.

I find this unnerving considering the posts where Sedo, Godaddy (others) allow buyers to cancel their agreement, ie when a buyer clicks "buy now" and days later either cancels or worse wants (and gets) a refund.

Buyers vs sellers, 50/50 in my opinion, the ones with the money vs the ones with the goods, without either sales would not exist, Sedo would not exist.

That said, and however unfair or just over the top it may seem, these are their terms which you agreed to (I don't mean to sound harsh, just factual and this is how contracts work).
Have you tried phoning them up and having a polite and apologetic/humble discussion? Saying your first mistake, sorry, can we do something on this occasion etc.

Tell sedo to stuff it!! Those greedy jerkoffs are pulling in a million a week in sales and a ton of commissions!

This is why when I purchase a domain, like from a member here and I see it at Sedo I always remind them to remove it. There's also been many times I've had to contact Sedo myself and tell them I purchased said domain and remove it from your platform.

They won't sue but may have a collection company biting at the bit to take all their petty issues just in case they can collect something.
