Hello,
I listed a domain hack for sale on Flippa and checking after 5 days, I noticed the domain has only 3 visits. This is not a .com domain, (but still a very nice domain hack, less then a week ago received 6K$ offer for it).

Wondering if the problem is with the new design of Flippa or simply with the priority Flippa gives to those domains that spend xxx$ and more in advertising, I am curios how the other domain-listing are doing!?

If you have some domain listed at Flippa, would you please share:
1. Domain Visits
2. Number of days since listing
3. .com or not

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Is it the one in your signature, by chance?

Apparently yes! Was expecting some visibility although after this post it got some visits afterward.
In any case, you might have a look if the new desing influenced visibility.

P.s appreciate you inquiring into this post

My pleasure.

This domain needs some outside promotion / love, first and foremost.

Secondly, and in all likelihood, the $6k offer probably won't be matched at auction. That's definitely an end-user price, IMO. I doubt that Premium exposure to it would move the needle a tremendous amount unless you had 2+ buyers on the hook. Do let me know if that happens and I'd be happy to explore options we can assist with on our end...

I listed couga.rs on flippa I got maybe 5 views total and 0 offers. Being that our domains are both hacks, and yours is better IMO I would say that flippa is not the best platform to sell hacks.

Actually to me, listing the domain at Flippa as well, is some outside promotion in attempt to find the right buyer. I was just hoping that listing a nice domain would get some more views there, and make noise toward the right buyer

to me, your issue is about expectation.

rather than trying to negotiate the $6k offer up privately, you chose to place on an auction venue because of their "perceived" reputation.

had it been listed prior to the offer (assuming it wasn't), perhaps you could have directed that bidder to submit a bid there.

however, their spokesperson has said words like this many times in various threads.
This domain needs some outside promotion

meaning that the venue doesn't do the selling or make the sale happen, you have to do that.

they just provide a platform for domain visibility, coordinate the transaction and collect fee's.

Good Luck!

imo...

I think 6k is far too high for a name like this unless you are prepared to wait for a buyer to come to you...

You should have accepted the offer you got.

Actually this is another topic. Different people have different perception on domains value (thank god for it) and I have been advised wrong before, and have advised wrong as well.

I was just curious if the visibility of domains in Flippa was influenced by their new design, or is it the same for similar domains. Have seen LLLL .com domains getting >100 views usually in Flippa listings, but did not expect 'other' domains to have almost 0 views.

If you list it starting low, put a reserve on it you may get some bids. But you will need to get interest via social media, blogging etc to really drive up the views.

that's because LLLL.com domains are hot and those "other" domains, are not.

hacks have had their "heyday" if you will, and in between the "chinese premiums" :) and the 5 number or less .com frenzy, who's really noticing other domains?

you got the ol school hack, but now you got new .school hacks to worry about too

imo...

Any domain listed in a market with thousands of names competing for visibility will likely not be seen by many buyers unless you buy an upgrade to put the domain in front of potential buyers.

Very easy to get lost in the crowd at Flippa, even with a .com, you need to use twitter and facebook, linkedin .......etc to share the auction details, hope that helps.

It's probably down to their new design. I have seen a dip in listing views since they launched it. They say its now made even easier and faster to use to buy/sell domains/sites but in reality, its all about getting as many people to 'upgrade' their listings which just goes to show how greedy they are. But hey, what's new.

Yes I remember when they offered free front page listings and everyone jumped on the deal, the listing stayed on the front for milliseconds, works for some, worth noting it really was for website sales that I heard of them

Our redesign is supposed to grant easier access to the different product "channels" a buyer is interested in, and in fact we've seen a rise in traffic towards each channel.

I love how everyone's complaining about their auctions having fewer views, when there is absolutely no comparison point. What domain is it? Had you listed it for days/weeks/months before the redesign? Maybe it's just not that good? Etc

The point about us being greedy and making you require an upgrade more than before...We don't require you to do anything. You can either promote your listings off platform to bring buyers IN, and/or you pay for an upgrade to help with exposure. Or you can do neither. Nowhere on the redesign have we made it a requirement to get you to upgrade.

The homepage is mostly curated listings, and that is how we want it to be. Editor's Choice is unpaid and chosen by our editors. You'll notice we removed the three buckets (Spotlights) - that was a paid upgrade that sold out for months on end, but it's now gone.

The Homepage Featured cost was risen to $99 by the Product team in an attempt to unclog the roll, as it was a fairly unsuccessful view - what with everyone upgrading at once and not being on the page for very long.

Thanks for your feedback Vishal. As you may understand, there simply isn't enough space to feature everyone's requests to be featured on our homepage, so we are going to lengths to ensure that we don't oversell those spots and ensure to give people a great experience when they purchase a homepage upgrade. We are now closely monitoring the demand to ensure that it isn't oversold and everyone gets at 18-24 hours exposure. Please let me know how you find this or any other feedback you have, by emailing [email protected].

I agree with promotion comments, for getting views one need to promote at flippa or through social media channels.
It depends on the domain name, how you should go about promoting it, premium upgrades or self promotions through twitter, linkedin etc.
Personally, I have observed Flippa support staff is cooperative, they may share there point of view or approach about a domain name if you reach them. It is a good thing to do before investing in premium upgrades.
