Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. So if the domain is renewed, it will point away instantly from our parking page, but it might just take a bit for propagation of the servers to take place (and your browsers cache may be showing old data on the domain).

If you have one that's been on for more than 48 hours (Very rare, but the max time propagation can take) and still directs to our parking page, there may be an issue with the new servers you're pointing to. If you're unsure about a specific domain not loading, please dm me the name and I can investigate!

so now bodis doesnt touch expired names at all??? or they do but bodis moves them back automatically if we renew??

They are no longer parked with Bodis upon expiration.

At the moment it still redirects to parking day 1, adding a grace period after deletion is something we haven't had before so it might take a bit to get that off the ground successfully.

Forgive me for being naive, but why would this take a bit of time to get this off the ground?

It seems like a very simple request, do not change my name servers to Bodis at expiration day 1, instead change at day 7 or day 14 or whatever other day but day one... c'mon Man(dude)!

If I am able to work something out, I'll update asap!

Hopefully you'll be able to work something out before I am able to convince my partner that we're done with Dynadot.it.com.

Peace Out Reaction GIF

Fair question, but there's a bit of a rigamarole when it comes to making big changes like this. It might look simple on paper, but it completely changes how our expiration cycle works to something it's never done before, which our team has to figure out if we even want to add yet.

Even relatively simple additions like the Email Toggle and TrustPilot score removal (mentioned above) still take a while to get rolling, as they still need to be approved by our teams, and then coded and tested by our engineers (who usually have other projects they're working on anyway, so new requests will need to wait until there's availability).

I'm more than happy to take customer requests on here, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to fulfill every one. If I do make any progress on this, I'll be sure to let you know!

It would be easy to sue Dynadot when they display a link that draws a UDRP on expired domains.

Just take a screenshot as evidence so you don't lose your names. They can do whatever they like but don't let them get away with making you lose your asset 😃.

They need to leave the page blank and display dynadot page on it .

They really don't see what's coming.

I encourage people to renew their names as some registrars like to make a nickel a day after your name expires.I have stopped using bodis since they encouraged this practice.

Dynadot wants to get away with this move by adding it to their TOS .

As they grow bigger and start going the way of GD,better to observe their actions and be vigilant .I use to like them but you know,it's all about the money and they have to make back their investment.

ty mr lebowski

sorry but with that hate u are forever thr dude to all lol

I thanks u for going above what i asked of just automoving back names to our bodis aftr we renew and now never moving them at all. dyna has serious pricing issues example io regular around 50 when sav and few more have zero issue at below 40. so any excuse u give or think u have just ain't working. plus your com should be lower for all..not just bulk or elites. cause then it's just crappy discrimination. why lower? because many others have it lower. and if they can then saying u cant only means one thing.. greed

personally I deal only with... io co com xyz info org net

if u can visit price compare site and show your boss u rank 20 or 30 on price list.. then hopefully he understand greed and goes lower.

u can tell him that it is stupid for anyone to pay more with u when 30 other cheaper options exist. this is an argument that is impossible not to understandfor any intelligent human.

I thank u for this read. take care

I don't think redirecting to Bodis has anything to do with the expiration cycle.

This is a simple change, like replacing the number 1 with the number 7 in the "if" line.

if (expirationDate > 7) {changeDNStoBodis();}

Similarly, a single-line intervention will be sufficient for notification emails:

if emailNotificationSet === "yes" {sendMail();}

We're currently working on our pricing structure for the new year!

@Caleb Tweed - Not sure if items below have been addressed before or not.

The 15% added fee to the first payment is one issue. I think I understand why Dynadot wants to do that but is it really necessary? It would be better if all payments were equal (like most other marketplaces do).

However, the more important issue to me is the time allowed by the system. It varies depending on the time remaining on the name (before expiration). The time should stay whatever the seller sets and not be altered based upon how close a name is getting to expiry.

It is understood by all the name would have to be renewed during the sale process should that time arrive. The only decision would be does the seller or buyer pay for that. To my mind, it should always be the buyer.

Since I'm rambling, is there anything being discussed about the ability to add a logo or pic?

We have spoken about this before, but I'm afraid we're not removing the deposit at this time.

I've gotten a few requests for this before actually, it's something we're looking into in the new year (along with longer installments available in general). It does change up our aftermarket system quite a bit, so if we can get it going it'll take quite a bit.

Logo/Pic on the For Sale Landers or elsewhere?

It rang some sort of bell when I was typing. Since I posted that, I'm seeing data that shows a deposit helps reduce the bail rate.

Longer would be nice...some of my higher value names need multi year to make them more appealing.

Logo/Pic on the For Sale Landers or elsewhere?

For the sale landing page. Not sure where the best placement might be...I like the graph for visits...maybe at the top of the pitch/description field.

I'm in a really difficult situation and need your expertise. My domain AiDesigns.com was recently moved to auction by Dynadot. Here's the situation:

Timeline:
  • Domain expired 42 days ago.
  • Still within the normal redemption period
  • Was my active domain
Current Issues:
  • Dynadot support says it's no longer mine
  • They won't allow standard redemption
  • I am willing to pay redemption fees
  • Need to recover.

Grace is typically 30 days.

If you wanted the name you should have renewed it.

Very simple situation.

As others have said, it's too late.

It is a hard lesson to learn but it's happened to me more times over the years that I would like to admit. One hand reg I lost just sold for 6K and many years ago a hand reg I lost sold for over 20K. Just lost several decent (1K-3K) because I did not double check to make sure the renewal went through...it did not.

Learn from this experience and do not ever check on the status of the name again (assuming someone gets it at auction and pays xxx for it). The negative energy following a name after losing it is counterproductive...I speak from experience.

So, the situation is that you let your domain expire. Then, 42 days after it expired, you have seen it was sold for $6,456 at the expired domains auction. Now you want to "pay the redemption fees" to recover it, because you "need to recover" it now, of course.

Sorry but it doesn't work like that. You let is expire, it passed more than 30 days after expiration. You lost it.
The domain is no longer yours. Face it, and learn for the next time.

If you don't wanna lose your domains, renew them before they expire, as simple as that.

----------------------------------------------

From Dynadot TOS:

https://www.dynadot.com/terms-of-use

8.4 Dynadot may auction for sale any domain name that is not renewed within the lesser of the first 30 calendar days of the Post-Expiration Period and such other shorter time period applicable to the respective top-level domain as specified under Appendix B (TLD-Specific Periods).
