Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. Founded in 2002 by a software engineer, our primary focus is engineering and design excellence. Our custom written, state-of-the-art domain and hosting software is stable, fast, and easy to use. From humble beginnings, we have grown steadily and now are home to over 2.6 million domains.

Our goal is to provide our customers with world class registration and hosting services for a reasonable price. Most of our site is fully automated, allowing us to offer some of the lowest prices in the industry. At the same time we strive to provide excellent customer service, and helpful responses to all questions. If anything is not to your satisfaction, feel free to contact us, and we will do our best to resolve the situation.

We individually respond to every email we receive - no cut and paste responses. Customer service is handled by highly trained customer service representatives that work closely with our software engineers, so you are likely to get an intelligent response to your question.

Is this just me? all my names on other registrar domain become unverified? I had verified all my names before.

It would be good to have something like "Cannot be transferred away until (date)" in the domain settings instead of having to calculate it ourselves when there is a 60-day transfer lock in place.

Since it's a Registry lock and it varies per TLD I'm not sure how feasible it is, but I can sure see if we can!

Thanks. At least for .com it would be great. GoDaddy and NameSilo have it, so it is possible.

Suggestion:

1. For externally registered names that are in the Dynadot marketplace the system gives the BIN Price along with the transfer cost (as it should). The currency will be set by region, for example mine is in Canadian dollars. There is a pull-down menu to change currency, for example to USD. That works correctly on the domain price, but leaves the cost to transfer in Canadian dollars, which is obviously confusing. Can this be put on the consideration list to make both costs in the same currency?

2. Secondly, and this is not unique to Dynadot, have you considered making the price in other currencies rounded up to the next even dollar? It just feels jarring to see a price ending in random pennies (this is for the same domain, the entered price $695 USD).

By the way, I really like that Dynadot supports a number of currencies. It works particularly well for people selling national extensions that buyers from that country can see them listed in that currency.

Thank you in advance for considering these suggestions. And thank you for a nice marketplace.

They were great thank you!

You're welcome! I'm glad to hear it's rolling.

So we added that to originally to dissuade buyers from defaulting after the first payment, as it's more of a buy-in. I'll bring it up with our aftermarket team if we've considered removing it though/put it for a test run!

Glad to hear it!

what's up doc. hey listen u got some good explanation why we cant use dyna sales money on dd renewals and other stuff and it has to be loaded money to do that... why u make this dumb distinction for sale money and loaded? money should be money to you... u should be happy people are spending with u... cause then u make profit and business is good..no?

it has to be loaded money to do that... why
It is a simple process (seconds) to move funds. And they give a 2% bonus when you convert the money to be used on Dynadot products. Perhaps there are other reasons, but thought would point this out.

yes I knew..but thx anyway. the point I asked had nothing to do with how easy or hard it's to add funds. and was entirely about why sales money can only be used for withdrawal and not to buy on dd. it is entirely dumb imo

Hey Bob! Good catch, we should for sure update that. I'll get a fix put in for it right now!

Rounding up the dollar would for sure make it look cleaner, though we try to keep the exchange as close as we can so we don't get complaints about users paying more for a domain, even if it's just a few cents. I'll take it in for consideration though!

Hey! We create the separation between Sales Balance and Account Balance so you know which of your funds has come from recent sales vs Prepay, as the Sales Balance has already had the commission and any payout fees already deducted. Like Bob said, If you convert it to Account Balance you get a 2% bonus if you convert to Account Balance, and the option should be right on your summary!

lol that's even more ridiculous reason than I thought... seriously u tell me the only reason u dont let people use sale money on dd buying is so they can know how much sale money we got vs loaded money. do your clients seriously look that stupid to u? jesus christ man get a grip

You can use the Sales Balance for Dynadot purchases, you just need to convert it to your Account Balance first, as the Sales Balance is for directly paying out of your account and the Account balance is for internal purchases. We made the change when we changed our commission structure so the Payout fee is taken out right away at 10% instead of split %5 and %5.

If you convert to Account Balance and then want to pay out, you have to pay a 5% fee to cover any charges as it's mixed with the rest of the Account Balance.

Well that's just a direct answer as it the Sales Balance can't be used as is, but it can be converted immediately to account balance like I suggested.

Discovered a fatal flaw in Dynadot. When you list a name on Afternic or Sedo before the 60 day lock - Dynadot cannot, after the 60 days, enable Fast Transfer. The names just sit there, with FT disabled. Their chat function said I have to delete and relist every single name in my account to get FT enabled. Can you imagine? No other registrar I use (PorkBun, Sav, GoDaddy, etc) works like this. The chat rep said NOT to list my names for sale unless 60 days have elapsed. Can you imagine???

Dynadot - this may be the reason I choose an alternate registrar at renewal time. @Caleb Tweed perhaps there is some fix you can put into place.

btw - the rep did open a ticket to see if they can manually assist on their side. But seriously, can't stay with a registrar that needs tickets opened every time I want to enable Fast Transfer.

I see, so once the Reg lock is removed, the system just automatically tries for FT if it's been initiated already? I think I've heard of other Registrars doing this before, let me see if we can get that changed!

even if u were right then the rep should have said. but the reason she didnt say it is cause u are wrong. I got sale balance now. converted as u say... and it never shows as payment option. but I'm glad at least u falsely agree it is stupidand should be different. that means u might change it. tnx

I agree the agent could have elaborated on that, but if you've converted it should be good to go! If it's still not showing as an option to pay with, please let me know your Username via DM and I can look into it.
