Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. Founded in 2002 by a software engineer, our primary focus is engineering and design excellence. Our custom written, state-of-the-art domain and hosting software is stable, fast, and easy to use. From humble beginnings, we have grown steadily and now are home to over 2.6 million domains.

I agree the agent could have elaborated on that, but if you've converted it should be good to go! If it's still not showing as an option to pay with, please let me know your Username via DM and I can look into it.

nope not showing. honestly im pretty sure agent was right. plz double check.

I see, so once the Reg lock is removed, the system just automatically tries for FT if it's been initiated already? I think I've heard of other Registrars doing this before, let me see if we can get that changed!

Yes, that is correct. Their systems send me Fast Transfer Opt-ins after 60 days (at least PorkBun does). Sav sends me emails to opt-in although unsure of their timing. Thanks for looking into it

Hi Caleb - just an fyi. Your CS told me to contact Afternic. They did a global "reset" for all my domains and then this initiated an email from Dynadot so I could "confirm afternic" fast transfer for all my names. It'd be great if you could automatically do this for names listed on AN once they've reached day 61. Alternatively (if that proves too hard), you could at least email your customers stating they should call Afternic for the global reset/push so it will instruct your system to send an email.

Thanks for looking into everything.

It sounds like the team is currently working on the request, will update this thread once I have any headway on it!

Dynadot's basic free email provides 1 GB of storage. Does anyone know how many GBs are provided for their pro paid level? Their website doesn't mention this. https://www.dynadot.com/email

Suggestion:

1. For externally registered names that are in the Dynadot marketplace the system gives the BIN Price along with the transfer cost (as it should). The currency will be set by region, for example mine is in Canadian dollars. There is a pull-down menu to change currency, for example to USD. That works correctly on the domain price, but leaves the cost to transfer in Canadian dollars, which is obviously confusing. Can this be put on the consideration list to make both costs in the same currency?

Hey Bob! This has been fixed, the currency for the transfer fee will now be the same. Thanks for catching that!

The 1GB is actually just the general amount given to all email plans.

Thanks. I spoke with your CS and you don't offer a migration assistant. She mentioned your pro plan did allow us to use management client to send and receive mail (like Outlook or Apple Mail). However, since there is no migration assistant I'm unaware if I am able to transfer my old emails from my old email provider to Dynadot (or through Dynadot) and to the new management client (Apple mail for example). Do you know?

Also - Just created my free website with your website builder, awesome tech!! One suggestion though, your free logo maker doesn't offer a "transparent" option so you can't make the logo fit your custom templates. Perhaps this is an option that can be enabled in the future?

So our email hosting supports IMAP, and you should be able to download emails to your local and then upload it to the DD one via IMAP! It does look like a bit of a hassle though, I've brought it up with the engineers and they're working on adding an easier migration tool!

What happens if someone goes over 1 GB? Seems a low amount for your Pro service. NameCheap offers 3 GB for their basic service (as an example).

Also - it appears I am unable to use your email service with a domain registered somewhere else. Is this correct?

And finally, you don't offer a free trial. I have tried both Spaceship and NameCheap emails and both didn't work properly. But at least they were free trials - so I didn't pay anything. No way to do this with you?

Very sad to see Dynadot raise prices to $11.99 for new com's and renewals. For large portfolios this is going to hurt. I think they're the best - but at these new prices looks like they won't be my primary registrar. Shame that.

holy crap I couldn't believe my eyes when u said it but went on domprices and its 12 to renew reg and 11 to transfer after promo ends.

man dyna just shot itself in foot. and officially went from great to lame and greedy. I can't believe this. I had plans to transfer my 1k names to dyna cause sav too buggy but no way I hell I'll do it for 12 bucks. I'll be transfring the 300 names back to sav before expiry. bye bye dyna and @Caleb congrats on becoming 40 or so worst register for prices.

Yup. Same here. Was going to move all Porkbun and Sav names over to Dyna as well. I'm actually really happy they raised prices before I transferred. Takes a lot of effort to transfer and now I can just stay with them.

Dynadot is absolutely better than both of them (UI, Afternic/Sedo integration, Sales landers) but not worth the raise in prices. Spaceship is nice too - but without Afternic FT it's a non-starter for my .com's. So Sav and PB it is now. Can't imagine a few griping domainers makes Dyna revert prices. From Dynadots perspective they are worthy of costing more than the others and marketing yourself on price only isn't smart long term. But the increase was unannounced and no oppty offered to have time to decide before it came into play. That was a mistake imo

dyna is so far down the domprices now it's not even funny. I guess they forgot the number one priority and what most people want is good prices. ui comes 2nd... maybe they will remember this when in few months they will have few 100s tthousands domain transferred away from them. what a shiteshow. but hey at least now we know who is greedy. ps it's a matter of opinion but to me sav has the best ui in all domaining. dyna is good but mega slow and not friendly....... never tried pork bun but found spaceship sucky. either way all combined sav still probably wins price wise too. i just panicked there after having some 10 or 20 nnames totally vanish from my account. and a few cases of renewal paid but names not renewed. gotta keep close eye there.
