Hi guys,

My name is Kevin, been following this forum for quite awhile, but joined because I wanted to share a news. I am a VP of product at Dub.io, which is a small tool that our team has been building for a few weeks.

We wanted to see if we can create a new (and hopefully better) domain parking tool. We've named ourselves "Dub.io" - nice and short. It works like this.

  1. Sign-up and you will get a website - to which, you can of course point your domain to. However, if you don't want to, that's ok. We will give you a Dub.io sub-domain.

  2. Once that's done, you can start "populating" the site with contents. This can come from RSS feeds, YouTube videos or just from the web articles. Dub.io takes care of automatically crawling these and inserting into your site.

  3. Each content can also be automatically tweeted to your designated Twitter account (this will usually bring more traffic and also get you some followers). You can also set up so that it's automatically posted to Blogger or Tumblr sites too.

  4. And of course, you can monetize it. Right now, we allow you to insert your own Google AdSense ads and VigLink code. The best part? You keep all the revenue generated from your sites. We don't take anything.

  5. Each site is all responsive to different screen-sizes. We try to include a variety of media types like images and related videos so contents are more engaging. Right now, we are in a "testing" phase, so everything is free! We would love for you to come and check us out and let me know if you have any questions.
Would love to discuss via this thread or if you have any questions, you can email me at hello @ dub.io

Thank you so much for your time guys.

Hey Kevin,
Do we have the facility to insert codes of InfoLinks (www.infolinks.com) ?? If yes in which area of the Ad Manager can we do it?
Thanks again

Hi Sajid,

Thanks for your message.

1) When you click on the RSS feed, the code you see is the XML content of the RSS feed. RSS feed is not a webpage, but a format that is ingested by RSS readers. Some browsers do display them nicely (e.g. if you use Firefox, I think it displays differently) - but it is not a problem and in a proper format that is consumable by all the RSS readers out there. You can always test this by importing your own RSS feed to any existing RSS readers (e.g. feedly.com)

2) A good suggestion! We are actually working on something to resolve this. Rather than displaying all the contents from one source, we can "mix things up" a bit. On top of that, of course we can do something that you suggested. This is on our list, so should be implemented quite soon.

As a side note, you can also apply a filter on feeds or keywords to ONLY grab contents that have images - this is of course if you want to make sure your posts have images.

3) I'll take a look at your ad settings and try to resolve them for you.

4) That's a bit weird - because when I signed up VigLink confirmed immediately. Not to worry - perhaps we'll wait a little. There is also a host of other ad platforms that you can try. We are planning to write up a document giving you a full list of these platforms, so it's easier for you to sign up. At times, it's a matter of experimenting different ad platforms to see which one works best for you.

If you have any issues, you can always reach me directly on [email protected] - happy to discuss more!

Just signed up after finding this thread. Looks like a pretty good tool. I'm in the process of adding some domains but just wondering if DNS settings will always require using dub.io name servers?

Would be nice if we could use cloudflare which would help mask dub.io as the host. And in turn is a big benefit in terms of SEO. It would also help safeguard against any possible Google penalty in the future against sites hosted at dub.

@BrandStarters

Thanks for your message.

Currently we support 2 ways of DNS change - one is the nameserver change and the other is via CNAME update.

From my understanding Cloudflare offers its own DNS features, with which you can then point to Dub via CNAME as well.

The last method would be to point directly to our IP address - which we haven't made available yet, but it's in the works. :)

We are also building out our DNS features too, so that we can provide a more complete service in the future.

Long story short, as long as you point to Dub's nameservers or the CNAME, you can use any type of DNS service providers you wish including Cloudflare.

I'll PM you for more details and we'll write this up as a documentation in the future too.

Doea dub.io have an option to put your domain for sale while building up the indexes etc?

This would be useful if its something that pops up at the top of the page etc saying the domain is for sale

@stewmath
Hi, yes it does; you can put a sale banner on the top of the page; isn't too impresive but I guess Kevin is working on it

Can I just add a cname to divert the name to mydubsitename.dub.io and leave the dns? Do I need to enter the other dns settings or just have this single field with a * or @?

@saj110 Oops! Missed that one. Let me look into this for you. I'll most likely need to try infolinks myself. And will let you know!

@stewmath @saj110 beat me to answering your question. :) And we are definitely working on the sales banner for you to customize.

@tdwuk Yes you can. You can just add one CNAME that points to your Dub site and it can be anything "whatever.mydomain.com". You just need to make sure you configure Dub so that we know what the "whatever" prefix is. You can set that in the "domain" settings page.

@saj110 For infolinks, I think you can place it in any ad-space specified on Dub (except the site-wide area). Let's give that a try at least. I tried infolinks and it wasn't exactly clear, but I think that's where it needs to go. Even if you place it, it says it takes 2 days for infolink to review. I've placed ad for one of my sites, so I'll wait for the review to finish.

Hi Kevin,
I have placed my request too with infolinks and it's under review stage; let's see what they reply:)

I am going wrong somewhere with the CNAME as I thought I setup a site correctly yesterday, works fine with the dub.io address but the domain url is not loading. Using a godaddy domain, loads of CNAME entries already exist and I can't see a way to remove them.
