Hi,

I thought there should be a thread where users can showcase there newly acquired .domains
Many interesting domains have already been registered. What .domains do you have?

So far a bit over 2K domains have been registered.
Indeed, sounds like a TLD made for domainers.

True. Very true.

Of course, the only people to sell these too -- for the most part -- would be domainers. Two problems with that:

(1) Those other domainers (if they like .DOMAINS) will already have spent their load on .DOMAINS domains of their own. So they won't want yours.

(2) Domainers are cheap. Remember, the goal is to buy at wholesale prices and sell at retail prices. Domainers are accustomed to paying pennies on the dollar. And, as a seller of .DOMAINS domains, that's your best-case scenario!

The only practical reason for registering .DOMAINS domains is to use them in your own business within the industry. But how many of those can you really use? I mean, if you've got 5-10 .DOMAINS domains and 5-10 domains in .COM that contain "domains" or something similar, are you really going to develop a few dozen sites just for domainers?

This is the conundrum for most domainers. Oh.. we have our own GTLD now. Let's go register a lot of domains. Most of the domains I've seen registered are already crap. It's unlikely that you will find a decent domain unless you pre-registered and won the domain at auction. I didn't even get to an auction for all the 10 premium domains I tried to pre-register.

I agree with everything ImageAuthors says above. We haven't even begun to develop our .com "domain" names, and we won't be developing our .domains domains any time soon either. And domainers rarely pay retail for any domain.

I can't dare to register DailyExpired.domains - is it a good domain name?

Thanks for the whois v5x. From this I was able to determine 8 out my 10 pre-orders were retained by the registry. So I think it was a touch of fraud that I was allowed to pre-register them. Only dot and aftermarket were actually captured.

:talk:

not "really" fraudulent, but more like playing cards with a group and the "deck" is stacked against you, from the beginning.

and...it's not an all of a sudden occurrence either.

as it's directly 'patterned" after the original " registry" reservations held for certain "1&2 character" tld's, then to "cctlds", etc.

once the "model" for reserve, then release, thru competitive bidding process was established, then accepted, by "us"...... applying it to .gtld release was already anticipated.

kinda like the Pavlov's dog theory, cuz many were "salivating", licking their chops and whatnot.

psychology 112...you know it's true :)

the point:

all one has to do is, increase the volume of keywords/characters, etc, that will be "reserved", then those that will be "released" thru competitive bidding or premium pricing, then open registration for what's left to the general public.

you just have to resist the force and don't let the dark side of .domaining overcome you

:)

imo...

I hear you biggie... there were about 2 hours whilst in pre-registation where I couldn't hold back my urges. But to be honest, I didn't really expect to win a domain like sell.domains :)

Can I hide my registration information (Private WHOIS) for .domains?

---------- Post added at 06:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:51 PM ----------

I am confused about privacy:

I think you need to register a .domains domain at GoDaddy with privacy to find out if your privacy is working or not. Or ask someone who has done this at GoDaddy. GoDaddy's prices are too steep for me.

I bought a domain via Namecheap for $25.06 (includes ICANN fee) with private registration.

What domain name did you buy and did the privacy work for this .domains name?
