Today I have read the article of Daniel Lyons from Newsweek.

I think this kind of articles would be beneficial for domain industry.

Just want to share with you.

Some Newspapers are starting to do OK traffic wise so there is no need for bailout.

Print media is basically asking for Corporate Welfare and they should be told to go to work and compete for a change.

Site Comparison of nytimes.com (rank #58), kansascity.com (#1,475), boston.com (#273) | Compete

What a joke...One of the few things I'm enjoying about this recession is seeing some of these power tripping billionaires take a fall from grace. Aside from politics, I don't think there's a more corrupt industry out there than journalism. If they honestly want to succeed, they need to stop feeding the public BS news and put their current agenda(s) aside. Let the billionaire has-beens beg for their bread :)

The free press in the U.S. is doing just fine without newspapers. It's a little wild out there right now, but reliable and established news websites are starting to emerge. So who needs print journalism?

Let the big bloated print boys fall!

let them fall
bailout idea is crazy

save the world, think how many forests can be saved. 95% of newspapers are total crap anyway, just take uk and u.s as example

probably one decent newspaper left in uk, guardian

the sun is most popular in uk, 3 million a day :sick:
murdoch the evil tyrant owns most of them, sun and times for example

let them die!

Guess: old-media will make a frantic grab for meaningful, pure geo names in the next 2-5 years in a futile attempt to grab marketshare, hoping to make use of their existing, outdated, decaying newspaper/tv infrastructure.

Yup, and that is already happening in local markets. Anyone who is letting go of a pure geo (city, state, country) g or cc TLD go for bargain prices right now will be regretting it within 5 years...
