This thread is to share domains you've Won at Auction or Bought at Closeout

Closeout = After auction but before completely dropping from registrar and before going into redemption.

I *HIGHLY* suggest to post only after the domain is transferred *INTO* your account!

Go here if it's a domain you bought that was available at anytime for "hand registration": Your Reg of the Day
Go here if it's a domain you snapped / "drop-catched" after "Pending Delete": Your Snap of the Day

Feel free to disguise the domain like Slash // dot // com or any o|t|h|e|r w a y you want.
IMPORTANT: *If* someone does disguise their name, please respect them by quoting them directly, or copy/paste them directly.

Things to optionally include (or just simply post the domain name):

  1. What you paid for the domain(s), or the price range, or no price info at all.
  2. Any information, reasons or hard data (traffic, CPC, etc) that lead you to buy the domain(s).
  3. Where (or who) you acquired the domain from.
  4. How many other bidders there were.
  5. Whether the domain was "expired" or not.
  6. Whether the domain was at "closeout" or not.
  7. The history of the domain.
  8. What you see the domain being used for.
  9. Who a potential buyer could be.
  10. Anything else you want to share .. these are just possible ideas not "rules" ;)

Been focusing on my auction/closeout lists quite a bit lately .. keep forgetting to post back here ... so here are a few more ...

AwesomeAndroid
// dot // com
Good alliteration with great descriptive word on a really strong keyword. While it could be related to the OS (tm issues), Android most certainly also has a generic meaning in robotics .. and would wouldn't want an Android that's Awesome? lol .. With the robotics exploding, I like my chances with this one! :)

NoAccountFees // dot // com
Fantastic marketing name for a bank looking to grab new customers. Banks make most of their money with the actual money .. as such more and more we are seeing banks willing to cut fees in order to attract new customers. I really like this one ..

Wunnu // dot // com
Nice pronounceable pattern 5L! I also like the unnu combination for potential logos.

IsThatAWord // dot // com
Not sure if it's just me .. but I get tons of Grammarly ads all over the internet .. which tells me money is being spent on language tools. This is a great marketing domain for exactly that!

SmartestPrice // dot // com
This is a no-brainer with the huge number of price comparison sites covering just about every product in the world. Plus it also makes a good marketing name.

RollingMetal // dot // com
I really love this name for anything car / truck / vehicle related. Just a nice strong and fun brand in a colossal business.

InterestingBlogs // dot // com
Solid name for a list type site. 2005 .com domain with 3k monthly exacts at $1.4 CPC. Nice all round name if you can get cheap (which I did .. lol)

AnsweringService // dot // net
Obviously a colossal search term on a big business. 2001 domain with 22k monthly exacts at $14 CPC = over $300 monthly search value. Well worth getting in .net IMO! :)

KalamazooTravel
// dot // com
Kalamazoo is a US city with over 300k population. Plus it's a fun name so not necessarily pinned to only be used in Kalamazoo.

FreshCutz // dot // com
I usually HATE domains with "cleaver" misspells like replacing S with Z. However .. I do like this one because it works for a wannabee trendy hairdresser. I also got it because it reminded me of a Domain Sherpa episode last year!

PawTravel // dot // com
So many people want to travel with their pets. This could be a Hotel.com type site that lists hotels/resorts that allow pets!

IncredibleResumes // dot // com
So much money if job recruitment and resume creation online that this domain is was a serious no brainer!

MotivationTheory // dot // com
I really like this one for marketing and big data. Figuring out what motivates buyers and browsers is huge money!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx // dot // com
lol .. don't ask .. seems every domainer needs to have a domain like this. 17 was the apartment number in the 2nd place I lived after moving out .. it actually has a bit of traffic somehow! lol

Great name for a niche website about travelling with your dogs. How much did you pay for it?

GiftRebel // dot // com

I really don't know why I got it. Thought it could be a great e-commerce site with funny/unique/non-traditional gifts, rebelling against the usual gifts given

SpectacularWebsites // dot // com
I don't think I even need to comment on this one .. there's about a million web developers out there who would love this domain! :)

GammaBot // dot // com
The robots are coming. This is a really cool and short brand.

Jibbler // dot // com
A really nice brandable with this one. Sounds like it could be for something communications related .. but could indeed be almost anything.

ReeferShack // dot // com
With the pending explosion in marijuana retail outlets across North America, I think it's a safe bet at least one or two of them are going to want to be called Reefer Shack! :)

As a general rule I don't like to post exact my acquisition prices in case a potential buyer finds this thread and undervalues the domain. My goal is to let domains that get too expensive go to the big bidders while I snipe up the ones that get through the cracks. Many of the ones I've listed here are even closeouts. That being said .. lol .. I don't mind specifying a bit for one every now and then ... for this one I actually paid a bit more than usual at auction (mid $xx) .. namely because I thought of maybe starting a pet travel blog and try to get some free stays with my little dog! :)

No problem. Almost all of my domains that I've shared here are also closeouts btw.

I have a pet blog myself, so that's why I was curious. :xf.smile:

BidBNB // dot // com
Because you know eventually the trend for AirBNB type platforms to let people bid over the best properties on the best dates.

MarqueeCommunications // dot // com
Premium name for a communications company!

NicerPlanet // dot // com
Great brand that could be multiple things. Eco/solar/recycling to communications/media .. really just about anything that wants a friendly image! :)

Conversative // dot // com
I like this for a chat platform, or a content creation company / writing service.

OnlineTradingAccount // dot // com
Three words .. but the stats here were just too big to ignore. Soooo much money in online trading.

OrangeCheetah // dot // com
Maybe I'll sell this for a truckload of cheetos! lol ... Seriously though .. can't really go wrong with colour/animal combos these days. It's not RedDog .. but I like Cheetah as it associates with speed. So this could be ideal for a courier company or any company that wants to be thought of as having fast service.

NOTE TO EVERYONE ... it's getting a little quiet in this thread .. remember .. I didn't create this topic just for me. Please share any names you specifically bought at auction or even at closeout here. And if you guys like the types of names I'm sharing here, you should check out the lists of a few hundred names I share each day in the Expiring Names section of the forum! :)

SelectWriters // dot // com
Really love this one. There is sooooooooooooo much money in writing and content creation on the internet. Basically it's the foundation of all websites and by far the only thing that counts for Google these days. The only thing better than content is quality/premium content .. which the "Select" part of the name conveys perfectly! :)

MotortownMedia // dot // com
Motortown is well known nickname for Detroit .. one of the USA's biggest cities .. can't go wrong with this one as it works for not just any Detroit media company, but also pretty much any media company associated with cars!

Loterie // dot // biz
Means lottery in French .. certainly still worth getting in .biz (at the right price obviously .. lol)

Snatched it on namePros Auction
lol .. nice pic ... but what software did you use to make the top banner logo? I seriously need to get to work on logos for my domains! But hate graphics .. yet have way too many to outsource! lol

Have not been so active lately. Here are some of mine:

CIN // TERIA // dot // com - I just like it as brandable but it is also a possible upgrade name for a few entities
NOIR // VR // dot // com - cool VR related brandable
NEBUL // IUM // dot // com - hypothetical chemical element whose existence was suggested in 1868 ... and it sounds really cool IMO
NORD // TRANS // dot // com - a lot of transportation going on in the north of... whatever

I also bid on that domain, but the price was just too high for me.

Great domain as there are many transportation and logistics companies with that name in central and northern Europe.

Yeah - the only problem with these kind of domains is that you get a lot of low ball / not that serious offers that waste a lot of your time.

I also have LIVE // CANVAS // dot // com
...almost every day I have to waste time explaining why I will not give it up for the very generous $100.
This was won for ~ the same price as NORD // TRANS - that's why it came into mind and I'm mentioning it now.

I definitely think it's worth more than what you paid, but I'm not sure you'll get 10x your money (which is what I shoot for).

@UXela FYI, I just tried to visit Nord // Trans with Chrome browser. I get a warning message saying there's malicious software (or however it would translate to English).

It's not yet set up for sale.
Probably the ex-owner had some sort of security issues or played with some nasty stuff. It will fade in a while after I change the NS.
Thanks for the heads-up anyway!

These are all brandables, all from GD expired auctions or closeouts.
I've also mentioned why I got the name and where I think they could work when considering re-sale

JUNKEX dot com
(think of this as the Fedex of junk removals...)
NUTRIVOX dot com
(I love Latin inspired names and this one means "voice of nutrition", an obvious food / nutrition / supplements / wellness business.)
OVULUS dot com
(assisted fertility is here to stay and this would be a great brand name in that field)
PINDICA dot com
(I just liked this as it sounded like a mash-up between "Pin" and "Indicate")
