This is for those who want to catch "Premiums".
Jim posted in another thread that his 43 premiums were already backordered...well it doesn't matter.

Hopefully this clears it up.

I didn't post this before because I was tired of the whole "legacy" premium thing. The only interesting thing for me in regard to those is how quickly the domain drops? For example. Dynadot drops a TV immediately. Godaddy holds onto it for 30 days. Obviously with premiums Verisign is holding to do "something" wrt pricing but I'd be curious if it gets time to even make a drop list if you immediately started your APIs running. :)

Also. Domainmonster WILL catch the odd drop in .TV. I've heard they're spotty in .com but in those instances the competition is huge especially when it's a high demand one (Pool/Snapnames from what I've read allocate resources based on bids ergo more popular / more hits to the server).

I've not had an issue with domainmonster, their customer support has been more than helpful.

This is a note I received about 3 months ago:
Thanks for contacting Domainmonster support. Unfortunately .tv premiums are a bit difficult to spot. Only Premium Registrars can sell them and on the Verisign site regarding .tv names it simply says:

Certain .tv Domain Names which are generic or common words, and 1- to 3- character combinations have been designated as "Premium Names." Premium Names have the same business rules and grace periods as all .tv Domain Names with the following exceptions:

* Premium Names may have higher pricing than standard .tv domain names.
* Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, Registrar Transfers for Premium Names are prohibited.
* Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, the Sync operation for Premium Names is prohibited.

Which is not particularly helpful! I have however chatted with one of our contacts at Verisign, the people that run the .tv registry, for any tips for identifying them, and to confirm the status of this domain for you. I was told that this domain name is actually a .tv premium name, and it will drop and simply be resold as a premium name, at a much higher price. So it doesn't look like it's going to be a standard backorder I'm afraid!

Please let me know if you require any further assistance and I will try my best to help you.

Do Verisign's and ENOM APIs have the ability to catch premium dot tv's, even if you have already backordered at Name.com?

Of course they do,
Its like any other backorder only it can be handled with registrars that have access to premium domains.

Some of us take advantage our registrar api's and compete with name.com

Does domain monster charge for back ordering (when the domain back order is placed)? Name. com has always charged me when back order was placed, and refund if they could not catch the domain.

So Name.com is not the only registrar that can grab legacy premium dot tv names on the drop?

What other registrar's are there?

So if someone goes to name.com and backorders a legacy premium that is dropping, another domainer could be using an API at another registrar and still nab it?

This might go well with this other post/discussion from a few days ago.

I have had zero luck with Namejet and Domainmonster .TV backorders. But at least I understand now why manually trying to capture a .TV drop at 4AM is futile.

capturing a good domain with an API against domainmonster and name has quite low possibilities, they grab 99% at least
