.tv DomainMonster best price/value for .tv?

Hi all,

I scanned through the http://www.namepros.com/dot-tv/581136-tv-registration-renewal-transfer-pricing-promo.html thread and it seems DomainMonster has the best pricing for .tvs and also seems fairly legit based on the user comments.

Currently I'm with Moniker and I feel like I'm getting overcharged. .tv with Moniker is expensive and I have to pay extra for url and email forwarding, and I wasn't aware of that when I signed up. It seems email and url forwarding are included for no additional charge when using domainmonster.

I have 1 .tv and a couple .coms that I want transferred. Any opinions on whether domainmonster is my best bet?

Btw, are there any new coupons available for domainmonster?

Thanks!

Hey DigitalAcuity.tv,

I was recently researching the Registrar info for pricing of new .tv's myself.
I Posted a question in my own thread about DomainMonster, and I received some pretty thorough info on them.

Here is the url of my thread which should give you some quick insight to them...

Hope it helps,
Take Care!

i have a name with them and for the first year they offer a free minisite (Credit Card Reviews And New Credit Cards) and after the first year its $10 per year for hosting , i am assuming this is also for .tv

cheap way to get a site up and running , in fact bluesmusic.tv is owned by a member here and it is with domainmonster he told me

too bad no paypal option seems like they have nice deals.. :(

The lack of paypal is somewhat a pain in the Aยฃ$% and I feel that should be something they aim to change.

Another feature they have (actually, a feature they DON'T have) that will ensure they will not presently get any more than 100 of my names is the inability to 'select ALL' and then carry out a command. For example, If I want to change the DNS to SEDO I have to do it name by name by name, by .......................

....name --------- times however many names you've got

I really like DomainMonster and I love the fact they have put some faith in .TV

The reality is that for anyone to move tens or hundreds of names to them you must have a lot of confidence in the company. In many ways they are in a Catch 22 situation.

Yes - they have great prices and these really ATTRACT

I presently have over 100 .TV names to move and have considered DomainMonster. Indeed, I even tested a few names in their system to see if they were any good - and have been perfectly happy.

All I need now is a bit more confidence and they might start getting some of my portfolio.

If anyone else has any info on DomainMonster - please share - we might end up with a very good ally now that Bob Parsons has gone all 'TUVALU' on us.

Yeah, that's a pain in the ass that you can't do a bulk DNS change to your names, you have to do it one by one. That's the biggest problem I see so far with them as it becomes time consuming this way.

I use domainmonster and really like them, their system, and their prices for .tv thus far...

Thanks for sharing, DomainMonster seems to be very attractive excepted for the Paypal option and their inability to select all names for one single command. Any other 'negative' point ?
If DomainMonster has currently the best pricing for .tvs, what about tomorrow ? I am considering moving part of my portfolio there but don't want to be trapped by a sudden fluctuation/increase in their pricing as Godaddy did.

Transfer them out somewhere else when that happens

Right ! I don't mind sending my names to get fresh air and reach a cheaper hotel. But as it seems that DomainMonster does not allow to send the whole group at the same time by the same bus to another place then tourism is the issue ... time and follow up.

I notice that Domainmonster incorrectly reports recently dropped .TVs as "taken" after 4am on the day of the drop. That has caused me to use other more expensive registrars for those domains.

Domainmonster, Paypal, Bulk Changes and Lookups

Hi All!

Had quick read through the thread (Thank you for the prompt James!) and am happy to give you all some extra info that might help.

1) We do accept paypal, just not as tightly integrated as weโ€™d like quite yet. Simply Paypal to [email protected] with your user email address in the Paypal or note attached and we will credit your account with exactly the same figure. Next time you checkout, the credit is then always used first before your card. We hope to have Paypal integrated fully within the next 60 days. In fact, I guess I could share with you that Paypal will basically be live from 1st March. Until then though, solution is above

2) In terms of bulk changes, we absolutely know that we aren't great at that right now and the feedback doesnโ€™t go un-noticed. However, we have platforms our end that do allow bulk changes and that's what the team use in support. Therefore, just email [email protected] with any bulk requests and I can guarantee you they will be serviced within 24 hours for you, if not quicker. We hope to expose more and more of those bulk features directly to you in your control panels, but it doesn't come without its complications, so we want to be sure we do it bigger and better than everyone else when we do!

3) Re the comment about saying domains are unavailable post 4am. Iโ€™m going to have someone take a look at that, but it shouldnโ€™t be the case. The reason Iโ€™m some confident of that is that our availability searches are 100% live. We donโ€™t cache a thing and extract new data from the relevant registry totally live each time, even if the same lookup was done 5 seconds prior. Therefore, if the data is bad its likely that its bad from the source (Eg. The registry). However, that said, weโ€™ve recently put a new lookup live, so its worth me having this one checked out and I will.

Finally, regarding that lookup, not sure you guys have noticed, but take a look at the new โ€œSearch Optionsโ€ in your control panel (Bottom right). Really powerful and lets you customise your single domain search view. So if youโ€™re into .tv domains, you can drag and drop to put them as first result. You can even then turn off the tlds you arenโ€™t interested in or make them a passive lookup so your lookups run quicker and you can โ€œclick to checkโ€ any passives. You can also set a default TLD for bulk lookups now (So could set to .tv), which would mean you only need to enter the domain string.

Hope that all helps for now...

Rgds, Matt

Thanks Matt

Really nice that you've taken time out to furnish the .TV community with a reply. Much appreciated and shows why DomainMonster have grown so quickly as a company.

Can I also add that many here would like to thank you for showing so much faith in the .TV extension.

Can I also add for other members that I contacted Matt directly this morning and genuinely expected to be sent a ticket or something. Instead he returns contact direct and then comes here to answer specific questions. Nice!

It is impossible to register available .TV domains using DomainMonster's interface on drop day.

All of today's drops (eg. 5-SECOND.TV) are shown as available soon. The only option available is to backorder an available name which is senseless.

Checked another myself

HOUSEPAINTING.TV (which dropped this morning)

Available at Namecheap and GoDaddy, but "BACK ORDER' at DomainMonster.

Well spotted.

Since you're here, you might be interested to know that on at least one occasion I had a .TV on back-order with DomainMonster and your system made NO ATTEMPT to register the domain at the drop.

I know this because I hand registered the name several minutes later (using Dynadot) after the back-order was unsuccessful.

MicroGuy. Normally, you make me itch, but this is probably the second time in my life I've been pursuaded by your genius! LOL

That's not good news and if we are to have a plausible alternative to GoDaddy for .TV names we need both not just PRICE but also FULL FEATURES

Strangely, I went poking around the DomainMonster system and found the information on the drops to be of a really high quality. There were some names coming on to the drop that I couldn't find in Ahead. Seems ironic I can find great names at DomainMonster, but then can't buy them on the drop without going elsewhere.

Personally, I'm still not convinced to put over 100 names there, but if they are genuine about their intentions then I feel they may become a contender.

AND - they had the decency to come here and talk to us directly. Can't see Bob Parsons doing that.

There are THOUSANDS of names waiting to be moved to the right registrar. Let's make the registrar's understand how much business that means - and get them working with us.
