When you're searching for domain names, when you come across a parked domain, do you click on any of the ads as a "courtesy" to the domain name holder?

Just wondering as this came up in a conversation today.

It's crap like that, that make the PPC revenue so poor, Google AdSense is the perfect example. Plus as mentioned above, theres always Click Fraud to take into consideration which could lead to your friends account being terminated.

Thank you

Usually I'm mad at them for owning the domain I wanted so I don't click.

Funny, I never even considered the Click Fraud issue.

I (like CriminalOrigins above) just never do it because I'm PO'd at the person for having a domain I want.

Never. One thing is that someone got the domain you wanted, should you then also support them financial? :)

PPC ads are very important for most of us so undermining this kind of advertising would only hurt our income.

Yeah, that's the point I was making to my friend.

Click fraud is one of the reasons why I never bid more than about 20 cents for ads that are on parked pages. Click fraud is also driving up the cost of advertising on search pages.

Click fraud?? How is clicking ads on somebody elses page cick fraud? Makes no sense at all.

if you intended to complete the purchase, it would not be fraud, but if you want to click for the fun or to help someone else, then it is fraud.

Click fraud: clicking on ads with no intention but to personally profit or have someone else profit.

Now THAT'S an interesting question. Just what is the technical definition of Click Fraud?

Some how I'm guessing it more along the lines of that famous quote about what constitutes p0rn.

To paraphrase, "I can't define it, but i sure know it when I see it...."

He asked if we click on ads as a "courtesy" to the domain owner. That's click fraud.
