Discuss your Epik Experience!

I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

Why does my domain name show this when I visit it directly: "
Domain Not Detected In Our Systems

Open a new browser and/or clear the cache...more often than not it is still showing the bitmitigate page because it is pulling the previous check. I always wait about 15 mins before I do my first check to avoid the bitmitigate page.

It's confusing, I clicked BIN on my name to check t&c's and when you click on the refund policy that is what comes up even though the name is not part of their portfolio..
I'm checking on this wording, but my interpretation is that the refund policy only applies to names owned by Epik.

We'll give that a look. What page was that found on? @vitigo

And, yes, Dan is Spanish fluent. We'll tune that up.

We also have a new multi-language reseller platform under development that is built around an Epik WHMCS plugin. You can follow that progress here:

https://epik.com.ro/

It has many languages:

Not sure about the sort order there but localization is happening.

That project is led by @CreativeMedia.us in Romania working with @Chairul avif in Indonesia.

Thanks for tending the grounds! We appreciate it and will return the favor.

Some errors when using google translate. Here are the correct translations:

"Epik รคr en ledande fullservice ICANN-ackrediterad domรคnnamn registrar och webbhotell med verksamhet i Nord- och Sydamerika, Europa och Asien."

"Registrera ett domรคnnamn nu"

"Den schweiziska banken av domรคner" - Doesn't have to change because it's your slogan 'slagord'.

"Domรคnnamn" - Domains (specifically relating to Domain Names)

"Webbhotel" - Web Hosting

"Inloggning" - Client Area (lit. The login)

"Vi anvรคnder cookies fรถr att sรคkerstรคlla att vi ger dig en bra upplevelse pรฅ vรฅr webbplats, lรคs mer eller klicka pรฅ knappen fรถr att acceptera" - We use cookies...

"Acceptera cookies" - 'Accept cookies' instead of 'Close'. (I advise this because European rules require an active acceptance of cookies)

Thanks @jamesall . For those not aware, he is referring to our WHMCS plugin reseller engine that is staged here and covers many languages:

https://epik.com.ro/

This is part of a 3-part plan for a comprehensive Reseller program:

1. We have a very good API fully operational here:

https://docs.userapi.epik.com/v2/

2. We now have a WHMCS plugin that can be made available to approved partners. @CreativeMedia.us has been leading that project working with Epik engineering.

3. We are developing a mobile-friendly version of full Epik that will allow anyone to easily set up their own branded "Epik" solution. For folks using Wild West Domains or Logicboxes, this will be good news.

In other words, domainers everywhere can become providers of integrated solutions for digital empowerment and in the process move up the value chain beyond flipping domains.

As we do this, our goal is also to empower who build websites and digital properties to ultimately find liquidity when they in turn sell their sites.

The project called CloudChase.com led by @Miao plays an integral role there as we work to equip developers of all technical abilities to build, operate and sell resilient digital assets.

I am tired and had to switch to dan
Hello,

The thing is after adding a domain name, you'll have to wait a little till it is updated.

we can discuss over the DM. I'll put you through..

Tag is a great feature. It helps me organize my domains for easy management. There is one feature I wish to have. The filters have an advanced tag field where you can enter multiple tags using "and" and "or", but no "not". It would be wonderful if I can specify something like "grouped and epik-ns not domain-forward".

After some more thinking, I now suggest you create a build-in tag which can be set to any of the 26 letters by user, and add a Tag column (sortable) on the dashboard. Because the built-in tag has only one letter, it will not take up much space. But, it will be very useful. When managing a large number of domains, it is critical to be able to group domains and apply changes to them. Having the Tag column enables you to sort and visually see which domain is in which group.

We can then use the 26 letters creatively to group domains. Even better is that a default tag (such as 'u' for ungrouped yet) can be included in a domain profile that will be applied to new and transferred domains. This will allow us to quickly identify newly added domains.
Can @Rob Monster comment on such possibilities?

Thanks, so as a potential client I would find that wording confusing.

The only reason I'm flagging this is that I am reaching out to some bank

Thanks - Is there a refund policy for my names purchased via Epik landing pages? Does it come under 3rd party? Meaning there is no refund available?

@Rob Monster
I have noticed, that Epik top left logo is not clickable at all... only "Swiss" logo at the bottom is clickable...
And I think, Epik lander should act as Affiliate traffic source...
How about to set Affiliate URL of Epik's customer behind both Epik logos?

Can it generate Affiliate income or not?

It should be possible. Checking @vitigo on that request.

Process-wise, we would pay out affiliate fees on our commissions -- the seller of the domain does not absorb any affiliate fees.

Anyway, good idea -- we should encourage people to promote the domains of others through social media, link farms, forum posts, etc. It is also empowerment for people who have more time than money.

Thanks.
I'm talking about my own domains on Epik lander...
Some of them receive a stable daily traffic... that's why monetization is needed like Affiliate income...
If visitor goes via my domain to main Epik page and regs another domain there...

New hire @MayC18 started February 1 as China country manager. One of her first focus areas is working with the network of Chinese buyers of popular domains and connecting that demand to supply. I can confirm that earlier today, she completed her first brokerage transaction.

May is also directing the efforts of our country managers in Vietnam (@Nhi Doan) and Philippines (Amy Lyn Minoy) so, we begin to make headway in connecting Chinese buyers, including overseas Chinese, to the pool of popular pinyin, and short domains, notably in .COM.

Also, I am happy to report that @Gube is preparing a China-friendly version of the new NameInvestors.com dashboard, including a pinyin name-spinner as well as Chinese translated version. We already have a Turkish version of the tools running here: https://domainbulucu.com/

For anyone who has China names, follow @MayC18 and get to know her. She will make you money.

You can use our PPC landers. It is the 3rd option for domain parking. I checked your account and you are approved for it. The PPC landers link to your marketplace listings and show PPC ads. The ads pay out with a 4 day delay but the funds are instantly usable on Epik. FYI, we don't get paid until at least day 45.

When I choose Parking Rotation - it will be visible on those PPC landers that my domain is for sale? It has it?
Or just monetization and that's all?

Yup, does both -- try it out and you will see PPC landers powered by Voodoo, and then a Domain for sale banner at the top of the page which links to the Epik marketplace. We pay out what Voodoo pays us.

Would it be possible to put the PPC links inside a portlet inside the SSL landers, since those get SEO?
And since the Tags feature is too powerful to be used just inside the Domain Manager, I would call portlets via tags, for example if a domain has the tag parking:rotation, it would display the ads inside the SSL lander, somewhere up the page, so you won't need to scroll.
Other portlets that I'd use, just as mentioned few messages ago, would be something like related:others, for a random selection of domains from other sellers in your marketplace, related:mine:dom1, related:mine:dom5 for a manual selection of own domains, and so on. A few pages ago this thread people asked to be able to have some content common to all domains, or to a range of domains in their portfolio, this could be generalized with portlets and tags. I'd also like to be able to call some content like images without cross-origin hacks.
I see what Epik has already done for the SSL landers really good as a platform to develop on.

We have looked into that one.

It requires getting an ad feed. We had some progress with one of the CentralNic business units to secure such a feed for use with a content-generating site but did not get that across the finish line yet.

You can however do this -- you should be able to use the SSL landers to embed affiliate code objects as well as content in the WYSIYG editors.

So, if you can source suitable monetization partners there is definitely a way to get free SSL. If someone has cracked the code on traffic monetization, happy to discuss via PM.

For the most part, I see PPC underperforming lead-gen for leasing and domain sales. The exception would be typo domains but often the monetization requires using dodgy "advertisers".

Happy to work on controlled experiments with anyone that has deep competency in this area and sees an exploitable niche that does not involve distributing malware, gaming or vice.
