I would appreciate your advice on the most cost-effective way to develop a domain name.
Of course, you can hire a webdesigner, find a toprank hosting sevice, etc.
But I am looking for a way to build (with very limited html knowledge and experience) and host several sites, maybe just minisites is the way to go. for those of my domain names which could get significantly more value by some development.
Your recommendations and indications of the cost are very welcome.

I have tried something with freewebs.com, building a site there and forwarding my URL, but I don't think that's the best way to go in view of search engine indexing etc. Am I right?

Thanks.

you can always use one of the html editors and you dont need html knowledge to work with those. Then get a reseller account for yourself not a big one ... just a small account and host your domain sites ... to advertise post it around different forums :)

no redirecting is not a good way to do it, i dont like it dont know why. :)

I have very god expirience using Joomla (former Mambo) CMS
wich is a free open source content management system.
There are 1000 of free templates availabe, and hundreds of
modules/components.
It is very esy to administrate (no html or programming).

Check out my test site, where I pre-test any components or modules
that i install on other sites.
www.24free.net
everything what you see works 100% is FREE and this is only about 2% of what Joomla/Mambo is capable.
(This site takes about 3h to be setup)

or here another example:
www.webmasterpanel.com (not updated since month).

PS:
For decent traffic domains I can supply hosting (incl. Joomla)

I agree with both above posts. You should be able to put up a pretty nice site for free or next to nothing.
Hosting:You can get a hosting reseller account that allows many if not unlimited sites.Alternatively you can get free hosting from some sites usually in return for posting on a forum.Better yet nRnF has a good offer on hosting.
Domains:You can watch for special deals on domains.Currently Info tld's can be registerd for around $2.00 and I think possibly free(1and1 internet). Also you can earn
Namepro dollars and register here at namepros effectively without spending money.
Design:Joomla is my choice and means you don't have to fuss around with web design or html.It is free.
Content: You can do this yourself at no cost.
Summation:

Domain: Free
Hosting Free
Design Free
Content Free

Great Website--- Priceless

I've never used a content management system for any of the sites i developed so far. But i do agree that it is an efficient solution for to-be webmasters who got little web development and design knowledge.

CMS like Joomla have one advantage over minisites.
If the domain/site starts doing well, you easy can add whatever function/service to it without hasstle ;)
(I like having that option)

One thing I need to clarify .
A minisite is a description of a type of Website ,not a METHOD.

You can use a CMS like Joomla! to create minisites
My preferred means of creating my minisites is Joomla!.
For the very reason you mention.
going from 0ne page ---> 200 pages is easy.
and turning the succesful onepage minisite
into a full featured Website is also an easy task

As previously mentioned
get a reasonable priced Reseller hosting (with Unlimited DB's/Domains)
and preferably an automated Script installer (like EasyAPPS or fantistico)
to install Joomla/Mambo
you can easily setup 100 minisites based on CMS solutions for less than 5c
per Domain based on a Cost of $5 per month hosting.

Speaking of that bft, your flash drives website has both chitika and adsense next to each other which is against the rules.
on the other hand ... hows it going pal?
