.us Convincing an enduser that .us is worth it.

Just wondering about your approach when trying to convince an enduser that .us is worth buying. Im not talking about if they contact you because then they already justified it to themselves. So lets say I own a non traffic, like most .us, generic.us. And I plan to contact a few parties that would be interested. Should I bother attempting to tell them the benefits of .us?

was perfect shorter version (3 char) of his 20+ .com domain

i would let the market simmer for a bit longer, worth a try shooting an email or two around tho

I'd say mention the success of other .us domains - particularly ImageShack.us. It's not like .us domains aren't becoming somewhat well known.

It might be worth mentioning how much easier your name is to type or for a customer to remember. Mention the best 2006 .us sales, particularly in the related sector. Mention major companies using the .us.

Still, very difficult. It might take a couple of more years to open everybody's eyes.

There is a patriotic touch to .us.
Other than that it may be the best alternative when the .com is taken or too expensive to acquire.
For a US corporation it makes sense to use .us instead of .net or some made-up .com...
The US is still very much into the dot-com-only mentality and it's going to take a few more years before .us become fashionable. I think that .us is going to gain ground but .com will still be the king.

As for contacting end users, it's up to you. I do not contact end users with anything other than .com unless it's a prime ccTLD that nicely fits their purpose.
IMO it's too early to put up a lot of effort into pitching .us to end users. I consider .us names a long-term investment.

It's only a matter of time before Americans come to love their cctld as much as say Canada or Germany. When that happens - watch out.

Just say that acquiring the .us version of their current .com or .net will help increase traffic. Becuase they are getting a well rounded set of domains for their company.
