While recovering from the past weekend of scattered deals and in anticipation of the next SuperSale, I am weary of having several threads related to the SuperSales at Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster.

Since the promos often work at more than one reseller, I would love to have a single thread to watch and participate in, if you agree, hang out here and watch this thread!

All NPers are welcome to post coupons and promos here as long as they are Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster. That way we all have a better chance at awesome savings as soon as the promos are live!

The usernamex Guide to SuperSales

SuperSales are promotions done by the family of registrars under Domain.com, including MyDomain.com NetFirms.com Dotster.com

About every 10 days to two weeks, one or more of these registrars runs what I like to call SuperSales - with dot COM / NET domain registrations for bargain prices, $1.99 - $2.99 - $3.99. Sometimes the specials are good for multi-year registrations, sometimes only the first year is discounted.

The super fun part is they let you use coupons ON TOP of the promo, so there have been specials as low as $1.39, $1.59 is more common, and $1.99 is still great any time!

If you are new, the best choice is usually MyDomain, since their renewals are second best (to Domain) and I have not seen the $1.99 special ever offered at Domain direct

A great way to get an account set up is NOT during the frenzy of the SuperSales, and a trick you can use without having to contact support is to buy the easiest to type/remember cheapest domain you can, like whatever ngTLD is on sale for $1.99, that will be your username. You can drop the domain after a year and your account will be fine. Otherwise get on chat and they can set you up ahead of time without having to make a purchase.

To make it easy for everyone, if you can BOLD any coupon codes, that would be super, and if you tested coupons successfully, please mention the reseller where you tested.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It's over I think?! Showing $9.99 .COM and $11.99 .NET now

What a strange mini sale - thanks @Jv1999 - I noticed their site was slooow a few hours earlier (I was updating whois) so I thought maybe they were gearing up for a supersale, I saw the $5.99 at MyDomain then siblings wouldn't load. No coupons and better deals elsewhere anyway. Now MyDomain won't load just to login, others OK.

ETA: Now has been 24 hours since I was able to login at MyDomain - can anyone else try to see if it's just me? I tried using TOR so I am guessing it is not just me : bummer :

anyone here with domain.com or dotster or netfirms been longer with them than 1 year and had any of their domains expire there yet? can you post the deadlines and grace periods they allow to transfer out expired domain without renewal.. and to push domain to another member without renewal... I know it varies from registrar to registrar.. godaddy round 40 days.. namecheap around 30... but essentily all registrars have legal obligation to let client transfer out domain after ezpiry up to X grace period days.

can u get auth code after expiry or u gotta make sure to do it before they expire???

p.s. anyone here knows of older coupons still working or we're just down the the last limited time one 15% til feb12?

tnx

Grace period is 25 days.

I have initiated transfer at receiving registrar in 24th day of the grace period.

There was no "expedite transfer option", but I got my domains transferred to new registrar with in a week. (30th or 31st day after expiry)

Hope this helps!

thanks
reps told me 30. I guess they do not know.
half of them said there is no grace period either.. so go figure.
I'll assume 25 days then.

as for expediating.. do you mean there is no expediating transfer on expired domains only? cause I just transfered a few things out of domain.com to alpnames on promo recentlly ... not expired yet... and got expediate links from domain.com for all of them

I am glad to hear about the 25 day grace period. Thanks.

Domain.com sent me this misleading message:

"One of your domain names is scheduled to expire in 30 days.
YOU WILL NEED TO RENEW IT MANUALLY WITHIN THE
NEXT 30 DAYS OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DOMAIN NAME."

The expedite out away from DomainSibs is through email, not in the panel, so it's easy to miss, especially if you are used to the fast approve in GoDaddy or NameSilo panels. I did a bunch also and they were all done in about 6ish hours.

Also, can we come up with a clever and fun nickname for referring to the collective of Domain/MyDomain/NetFirms/Dotster? I get weary of typing it out like that, yet I will do it so even new people will understand - Dom/MyD/NF/DS takes too much capitalization and punctuation. I like referring to the resellers as Siblings so they are gender neutral, really NetFirms sounds male and Dotster sounds female LOL so I just used DomainSibs above, yet that doesn't convey that Domaincom is included. DomaincomFamily? domaincomfamily domaincomfam domcomfam bam!

Better easy ideas welcome, I'm wonky from transfer overload

How about the "Dom Netsters" or just "Netsters"

yeah.. I definitely get expediate emails form domain.com
but msybe DKN meant they stop for expired domains. highly doubt
but worth the ask anyway

when I called them they even told me the deadline depends on whether its at fasthost or enom or tucows etc.. and it was around 40 days..

itd be nice to find abbreviation
but problem is no one not reading this thread will ever know about it
so you still gotta use full thing everywhere else :)

for this thread... i think
dotcomfam sounds good

I think this is short and to the point >

DMDN

Why don't we all submit ideas and vote on it.

I am tired of writing out all the names and/or writing "sister co's" or "siblings".

It was 3 months ago, Chat support Rep told me there is no Expedite Transfer option. (Yes I agree with you half of them are ignorant and they don't have much clarity about their own system)

Maybe, in your point of view. But its my experience with them :)

I think you misunderstand me.

I am agreeing with you.

Their support is terrible.

LOL I like TheFamily because it has a kinda mafia implication to it and I agree with the easy to type - domfam is even simpler

For now, I made myself a hotkey in linux, don't know what took me so long, since I post all over NP and agree the nickname only kinda works for this thread for the regulars. I wonder if the forum supports some sort of hotkey function for everyone, hmmm

what happens when you click on the edit pencil next to Expired? Also try this hack - while you are looking at that transfer tab expanded, open another browser tab and go to this page https://www.xxxxx.com/controlpanel/domaincentral/3.0/m.cmp replace the sibling you are using for xxxxx

ETA - Looks like transfer after expiry requires support
http://www.mydomain.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=168

Important: If your domain has expired or is expiring within the next 10 days, please contact us for assistance. Attempting to transfer an expired or expiring domain can sometimes cause unexpected complications and we want to ensure that your domain transfer occurs smoothly.
